    Default Purchasing Books Online

    Hey guys,

I think we should start a list of places that are good for purchasing books online. I don't mean EBooks, I want places that you can physically purchase books. I will start a list.

    Puchasing/Buying

    Rental/Renting

Please post with suggestions for places to purchase books, I will add them to the list.

Please specify if you know which category your website should go under. If you know they only ship to certain locations, etc... I will assume International if not specified.

    (Sticky this?)

Yep, I already have Ebay/half.com added to the list. There are tons of others out there that I have heard from classmates but I can't remember them for the life of me. Hopefully when classes start again everyone will hear/think of some sites.

    How reliable is Half.com?

I see one of the textbooks I need for class selling for $40 and in the campus bookstore it is $210

I ordered 4 of my 6 books from there just 2 days ago. I always here people using half.com. It's reliable from what I hear.

It pretty much is just ebay for textbooks.

I found that the catch was that it was the 11th edition and I need the 12th. The only site carrying it is Amazon and it's for 180. Almost not worth it.

Ah that sucks. It must be a BRAND NEW edition then. half.com is usually people selling books that have taken the class and don't need it anymore. I was able to find my C book for $35 and the bookstore sells it for $135. My 2 physics books I got for $23 (combined) and they are $120 (combined) at the bookstore. My circuits book I got for $18 and it is $113 at the bookstore.

    I think it's 2008 or 2009, which sucks

NEVER use the campus book store for buying or selling back! (Unless you have no other option)

The reason in your chase(and all cases) it was so much more is 1) They sell the books new, while other sites give you option to buy old/used books, and 2) Noobs like you pay2much4urbooks!

I always buy used on amazon, I look for decent/good quality and cheap price, 90% of the time it's MUCH cheaper than the book store (even with shipping).

Then, when I am done with them, I resell on Amazon, I've sold all of my books back for the same price I bought them or more (except that Amazon takes about 15% commission for each sale). So in the end it's like I'm paying only 10-20$ a book if I sell them back!

Campus book stores sell high and buy for low, they are all about making money!

The new scam.. is when a class ' specializes a book... for that class only... and then that campus book store is the only place to buy the book 'college X edition' ... complete money making bull.

I used amazon and it was friggin fast (even in canada).

But if any one of you have a course smart account and would like me to help you rip of the book

I wrote a script (non simba) to save all the pages into image and refresh it to remove your name

I use amazon, mainly because at the end of each year they offer to buy your books back. If like me you study a module such as tax your text book will be near enough rendered useless by the government every year then this proves very useful as the contribution towards the newest edition

Read through and followed all steps 3 times. Still doesn't get Simba scripting or any form of scripting for that matter. *retard*
