Default A good new hobby ?

    Hello SRL !

As school comes back into my constantly fluctuating life, I feel the need for a new hobby.

The thing is : I don't want it to be something along the lines of "scripting", I don't want it to be just sitting next to a computer, alone.

I want to have a hobby, which could proper change my life.

    Anyone have ideas ?

PS : I already work out quite alot and its starting to show effects, although I should cut down the McDonalds and KFC totally .

PSS : I don't do any sport part from weight lifting and occasional cardio, anyone have any interesting stories or recommendations about swimming?

    Thanks in advance !

    --Dervish.

Hobby 1: Talk about getting a hobby. Take art classes, if you fancy art.
Hobby 2: Pretend you're another person for a week of every month. Only respond to that person's name.
Hobby 3: Get a job that requires you to lift things.

    I suck at suggestions.

What you really need to focus on is keeping your mind constantly active, if possible. If you can keep your mind active for the rest of your life, you will not get the mental illnesses that are common amongst senior citizens. Such as Alzheimer's and other illnesses.

I went ice skating the other day and found it easier than I remembered (from 12 years ago). (also killed my legs since I don't use them much anymore)
Of course I will push RC cars/planes/helicopters, but I don't know how much of a budget you're able to allocate to the new hobby.

Learn to play music. That is a very good time investment, a skill you will keep for the rest of your life. Good for the brain, good for the soul, excellent for the dames.

I am a pretty decent Bach guitar player myself. Absolutely adore it.

    Mini-moto racing (Surprisingly tiring)
    Shooting (BANG!)
    Join a gym (Beasty)
BMXing (Wouldn't know what to say since I don't do it)
Turn gay (Don't know why, but it had to be said. Sorry )

EDIT: Agreeing with Wizzup? above. They say learning an instrument helps with maths...somehow...and other random stuff.

I personally love playing squash, a large portion of my life is taken up playing that, absolutely adore the game. And you don't have to be ridiculously fit to play it, you can play reasonably well at low levels merely from knowing where to hit the ball. But over time, you get fitter, and you have the ability to run to all shots, and retaliate with an equally devastating one.

Or music, big guitar player myself (I'm awful though ), you don't have to be good to enjoy it, a lot of classic rock music is surprisingly easy to play, and some more modern things.

along the lines of squash, I adore racquetball.
$100 is enough to start out with minimal investments after that. tons of fun and great workout too.

On that note, basketball is tons of fun, get from friends together and play 3 on 3 or something. I usually code or hang out with friends in my spare time. The ability to play the piano or guitar will get you tons of chicks, though, don't be that douche who brings his guitar everywhere...

Learn to play any instrument. I play several including most if not all the above mention + some. I also Hike a lot due to my near proximity to the mountains(only a 30k drive). Explore and find hidden places of beauty(after seeing enough you tend to take up photography.)

i will have to recommend photography its quite fun, but can be expensive to get some nice kit, mine was £500 give or take a bit.

its kinda a fun thing to do and you dont have to be good at it also you can then practise photo shop skills after you done stuff (i know you said you dont want to be alone inside)
