    Default Piano Songs

    Hi

I'm going to be working playing piano at a restaurant soon, and need something to actually play!

What are some pieces that would be good for me to learn?
I'm thinking mainly contemporary music, or soundtracks - things people know. Maybe one or two classical pieces.

e.g. Piano man, or Music of the night.

    Thanks

Make a Simba script that sendskeys to the piano for you.

For suggestions, why not some Mozart? Everyone is familiar with those and I've never known anyone to say no.

    What kind of restaurant?

100 Years is by far my favourite piano song, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. I wish I could play piano.

100 years sounds good. Added it to my list.

The restaurant is 'fancy' but casual. It's in an open area of an up market shopping center.

Also, no reason you can't learn piano - definitely worth it. So glad my parents made me learn when I was younger.

    As for sendKeys...
    ahaha

    For jazz: The Real Book.
For popular music: go to your nearby musicsheet-store and buy one book with piano arrangements for contemporary popular music and one with popular classical arrangements.

Make sure you have plenty to choose from, make notes and highlights and index what you can easily play.

Start with the easy songs first. Start slow.

    But above all: Study!

This is my favorite tune from my favorite game of all time.
    The piano version:

I'm currently trying to learn playing this on the guitar. If you play that and upload a video or something then you have my upmost respect.

I tried teaching myself a while ago. Once I had to use both hands it got really hard, and it just kind of faded away..

Definitely something you have to keep active at. I'm glad I started young. A lot of it stuck with me even though I had long breaks (granted those long breaks were filled with trumpet, which kept some of my music intelligence).

Actually bringing my keyboard over today because of this thread.

I may try again sometime, who knows. Would be a nice summer project.

Go for it. It's best to not just learn song by song, in my opinion, and to learn how to read music and know where keys are and everything. Then learn songs by reading the music.

It's kinda like programming. It's much better to learn the logic behind programming and then learn a language or two or seven, because then all you need to know is the syntax and libraries. Same thing as learning an instrument, really.

Yeah that's how I started. I had a beginner's book and everything. I dunno, just faded away. I could play jingle bells though!

This is what I'm trying to learn. I did a wedding once and it required so much practice! But I'm sure you can do it man plus the money/experience you're going to gain will be mucho awesome. I used a piano book that my teacher made so no help there, but Fawki's suggestion sounds prime .

Anything by: Queen, Journey, Dave Mathews, Billie Jole, Nora Jones, coldplay, U2, Train.

Make sure you hit the 80's 90's everyone is nostalgic. We actualy have a bar here where i live where they have blazing pianos every night its a good place for a date. Have soem fun with it too, I once requested the imperial death march and everyone went nuts. learn the halo 3 theme too, and axel f - the beverly hills cop theme.

Depending on the environment i also suggest linkin park numb that is a really good song for a mellow environment.

Just watch you tube videos on compilations there are a lot of good ones out there.

    THIS IS AWSOME TOOO!
