Just buy a $40 heatsink and spend the extra on a SSD

Way better way to spend your money.

I think you're paying roughly $50-70 (100 at most) more than you need to, in regards of the case.

Well you could make a case out of card board, so you could say any money spent on a case is paying more than you need to.

The difference between a $50 case and a $150 case are the details - less weak plastic, better design characteristics, higher quality materials.

It's up to the person purchasing stuff to decide if the trade offs are worth it. (I personally don't care for pros and wouldn't care if my case was cardboard*)

*poster has personally made a case out of cardboard

I have the Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB, I have to say at first I was very impressed, it is a very fast drive. Unfortunately, 6 months later this thing is making a HUGE racket in my machine, I built it to be very quiet and now the drive read head is making all sorts of sounds when doing even the most modest of work. I want to RMA it but noise is not covered under the warranty, I have to wait for it to fail or have a SMART warning...

Also, skip that power supply, its very over priced.

I have this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 and it is a very solid 750w PSU, Corsair makes VERY nice PSU's, also its $70 cheaper.
Working on a Watchmen pickpocket-er, hope to get 80kxp / hour.

Look forward to the build. So, did you end up changing any of your parts from your original post?

    hello,

his site is dedicated to the many thousands of ordinary people who decide to build their own personal computers each year -- very often, on their kitchen tables.

My goal is simple: I want to present an illustrated, step-by-step guide to building a computer from scratch, in simple language, to help make your do-it-yourself computer-building project as enjoyable, educational, and rewarding as it can be.

If you're visiting from an iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, or other mobile device, please check out our Mobile Version. It loads a lot faster and is formatted for easy viewing on handheld screens.

    Thanks
