Default How does Runescape handle Packets?

I am currently sitting in Java Class ... YAWN... I just recently started looking at Runescape auto programs/scripts and well honestly its pretty basic. Someone who knows C++/Java or any other programming languages can catch on in a few days easy.

I am personally experienced in C++, VB, Java, and some Delphi. Along with done alot of scripting ranging from making scripts to run parts of programs / games to making AddOns for WoW.

I have made cheats for a few different games... Mainly using packets, all the games i made cheats / bots for was client based though.

How does runescape handle packets? Reading around a bit i see bits and pieces of something i beleive called AutoRune which used packets but Jagex made it not work (haven't found good info on it yet)

Currently the runescape website is blocked, and I am too lazy to get around the block. But just wondering what work has been put forth toward this already and should I even take the time to work on it later

Erm, Well back in the rsc days you could use Winsock Packet Editor Pro to make your character a female with a beard, something jagex disallowed. Maybe thats useful? Haha, I don't know. I'm not great with packets myself, WPE Pro is about the extent of my knowledge. Goodluck with this one.

Packets are now encrypted but previously(Autorune/RSC era) they were not which enabled a cheat called autorune to do many things with the RS packets.

Hey, I myself make hacks for other games aswell. (*cough* CS...)
and intestingly I've come to the conclusion for nowadays, if we wanted to make another "AutoRune" or something like that, we'd need an inside man from the J-mods (or anyone else) that know the block encryption to RS. [how its encryped and such]
Go ask Andrew Gower Im sure he'll help you

If RuneScape can encrypt the packets, so we can. RS needs to encrypt the packets locally. If they encrypt it locally, we can debug it and encrypt our own packets.
I made a new script, check it out!.

The game tibia also encrypts its packets, although its slow work you can figure it out. Didn't have time to look at it yesterday, was finishing a script for someone.
