Use `export VARNAME="VARVALUE"` to set an environment value in bash.

Also, unless you /need/ to use Apache ANT for something, I suggest installing Lighttpd instead. Wizzup uses it, so it must be good!

You're on ubuntu, why not just write apt-get install apache2

    Code:
    mark@M:~$ sudo apt-get install apache2
    [sudo] password for mark:
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
apache2 is already the newest version.

    mark@M:~$ nmap localhost

    Starting Nmap 5.21 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2011-05-03 16:03 EST
Nmap scan report for localhost (127.0.0.1)
    Host is up (0.0013s latency).
Hostname localhost resolves to 2 IPs. Only scanned 127.0.0.1
    rDNS record for 127.0.0.1: localhost.localdomain
    Not shown: 997 closed ports
    PORT STATE SERVICE
    22/tcp open ssh
    80/tcp open http
    5900/tcp open vnc

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.35 seconds
    mark@M:~$

Well clearly I'm missing something because I thought ant was just a make alternative that's cross-platform. :P

    Why are you using XAMPP..?
    Code:
    # apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5 mysql mysql-server libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql phpmyadmin
I don't know where your files are with XAMPP, but most likely /var/www/htdocs/ or ~/public_html/ or something....

No, he had CR's in his script. (^M) CR's must die.

And don't use that LAMP crap, just install all the applications separately or you'll never understand how it works.

Yes i am going to go trough all the steps again in a new wm after seeing to much errors witch is not supose to be there common indeed.
But why not use lamp is this a bad solution if i want to host a website ?
strange thing is (atleast for me) super easy to do in windows, and that make me wonder how much harder can it be in linux
