Alcohol can't be banned, just look in our history. Cigarettes got a huge lobby behind them. Wiet doesn't.

I know that, I put those questions out there to portray how backwards society can be, alcohol and cigarettes are very unhealthy for us therefore they're legal, while weed has medicinal effects and they're illegal.

I understand there's money, controversy, business, etc, involved with all of it, however, looking at the simple facts of the matter

It's a bit naive to look at the simple facts.. Except if you just take money for an answer (which you should), of course.

I disagree, you need to start simple. Although in my opinion, I am fine with marijuana being banned. I have never tried, and I doubt I ever will.

No. Not just money, money is for peasants and slaves....

edit: I'm getting a bit off topic. Weed should be fully legal, as it is our own responsibility to use it the right way.

It always confuses me why people go into wars about how we got here, and where we go when we die.

While marijuana has health benefits, I doubt that's the reason people smoke pot.

It's no secret that people smoke weed recreationally. But, it would be nice for people to be prescribed it entirely legally, as it's much safer than modern medicine, albeit less effective in some cases.

It's a bit silly to say it will solve all of our problems and make the world better and all that stupid nonsense. Yet again, it's about money.

Meaning it is essentially the drug companies that will lose the most if marijuana was legalised?

but you also have to think, they have been winning (more like dominating) the most for for a while now

    Agree totally with this.

I just find it annoying that tax payers are the ones who have to pay to throw these ones in jail.

i find it annoying that if you have a simple possesion charge you cant get a college loan, but if you rape or murder somebody you can.

Whether weed was legal or not, like many things it would need to be restricted.

Sure, just like you can't drink and drive. But if you get blazed till u start seeing shit (has not happened to me yet; would be awesome tho!) in your own house, it should be all cool.

Same here, it's not really a big deal.

I'm not really sure if legalizing weed would be a good thing though. My main argument from both sides deal with the gateway part of it. It's true that if weed was legalized it would be harder to get for younger people. Weed is often viewed as a gateway drug, and legalizing it would cut off the "gateway aspect." The same people who sell weed are often the same who will offer up harder drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy. So if it was legalized weed smokers wouldn't have that easy bridge to other drugs. However, I'm not sure if younger people would turn to a more accessible drug if it was. I'm just unsure if legalizing it will push kids to "rebel" by trying other harder drugs instead to start off. Lots of people smoke only weed, but would the go to drug change to something else such as Cocaine?

All speculation, I'm sure tons of people are predicting the effects as we speak. As of now, I'm all for decriminalization. Still not sure if it should be legalized..

please, give me any link at all, that proves that marijuana is a gateway drug, honestly its like saying that coffee is a gateway drug to cigarettes or milk is a gateway drug to alcohol.

The only reason why I would want it to be legal is so that tax payers like my parents and me (a bit later on in life) aren't the ones who have to pay to throw these people in jail. Personally I don't smoke it and I probably never will.
