Default What is your opinion on luring?

Ever since the trade/wilderness update in february, the amount of luring that has taken place has increased drastically.

Personally I have lured a decent amount of people and made a hefty amount from it. At first I condemned it, but after doing it myself I completely approve it (I've become a hypocrite )

    What's your opinion on luring?

How do you do it? Do you need friends/starting wealth?

    I think it's pathetic.

    Current projects:
[ AeroGuardians (GotR minigame), Motherlode Miner, Blast furnace ]

you're the Earth and I'm the sky..."

I think that if the opposing player makes a stupid choice and puts them self at risk of being pked, then it is their fault. They make the choice of entering the wilderness.

    It's in your own hands.

    Never follow drop parties.
    Never have aid on.
Never just blindly click a teleport request.
Don't EVER fucking wear expensive shit into the wildy unless you're ready to lose it.

Wow I remember luring w/ friends years ago, I'm surprised that people still fall for that, but then again I guess there's always new players to RS who aren't aware of that trick. I think if they follow you out there, then it's their own risk, I've never made huge amounts of GP off it, but I think it's still fun/exciting to do it. Though I barely play legit nowadays.

Isn't there different kinds of luring? You can do the ways most of you have mentioned, like getting players to follow you into the wildy and such, but there are other simple ways like luring people out of 1v1 combat spots around the wildy and into multicombat spots where your friends are waiting. I have seen the latter more often and i don't really have a problem with that.

Don't risk what you're not willing to lose, is what it ultimately comes down to.

I think luring is stupid. I think it just shows how much you aren't a man, come on you have to trick the person in to coming into the wildy knowing they can't pk, or have no food, so you kill em and take the stuff. Just pk regularly, it makes you more of a man, I generally don't respect lurers, just pk regularly, be the best you can, and you'll be known as a man, and be popular...

I know, but I find it dumb, how people feel proud when they lure someone.

I don't think that's pride, I think it's happiness at the increased size of your cash stack (AKA RS ePeen)

True, but we all have our opinions. Truth is I got lured once when I was a noob, guy added me talking a lot of sht, and being a jerk, so to me he was proud, but of what?

    They're just pixels...

With that being said, don't gamble the pixels you aren't willing to lose.

I remember a point where dying in the wilderness was upsetting, but now I just script and run bots, so I don't value it any more.

The cannon glitch was just that: a glitch. Something unintended for normal game use. I look down on anyone who abuses bugs or glitches against another player.

As for plain ol' luring: if you fall for it, you deserve it. The majority of lures are incredibly easy to spot. It's the same basic principle as "don't get in a van with a guy offering you candy."
Long ago, the '90s Nicktoons lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the century turned. Only Avatar, the best of the 2000's Nicktoons, could save them. But when the channel needed it most, the show finished. Four years passed and Mike and Bryan created the new Avatar: Legend of Korra. And although the show itself is great, it has a long way to go before it can live up to The Last Airbender. But I believe Korra can save Nickelodeon.

I personally think that almost anything should be accepted to do in a game. (Jungle rules ftw)

I once lost 4 blue phats to a bug abuser at the duel arena and I wasn't mad at him because I know I would do it myself if I could.

Scamming is much worse than luring in my opinion. Reason is that when you lure your opponent usually knows that the place is dangerous. Scamming someone for irl $ is much more serious though. (I doubt scamming in-game is even against the law)

This rep++, scamming is more dangerous and cruel.
