if you are smart about it and do not bot too much or at areas where mass bans occur, you should be ALRIGHT.

    I recommend using Simba though.

There's ALWAYS a risk of getting banned while using a bot

Might wanna layoff paid bots for a while, cos i think jagex wants to remove as many bots as possible before their big update.

By big update you mean Clan Citadels? or is there going to be something else I haven't heard of?

And update that will likely break some of the paid bots out there.

Yep, thats the one im talking about. Because if jagex don't do something about those bots, then it would greatly affect other clans since they can just bot 24/7 with other bots and not get reported.

break as in a reflection update.. or break as in they're doing some major changes to detect / destroy java /injection type bots?

Not so much as game detection, but legal action I believe. They mentioned very recently they'll be going after the premium bots as well as the people who purchased them. How they can get that information is beyond me, but it makes me feel good I only use Simba.

They'll subpoena the information from the bot owners, if they kept a record, and the bot owners must abide by a court ordered subpoena or face serious legal action, possibly jail time. But first, JaGex must bring forward a really good argument to why they need such information.

I think they'll go with the "You're making money off our intellectual property, stop." route. Which I believe would work to an extent but I don't know what their going to do about the free bots.

    Guess we'll find out.

They'll need a damn good reason to subpoena that information. Saying they are making money off their virtual property is not more important than privacy laws (and often requirements that businesses have to keep their customer's information private).

Im betting the odds are against paid bots, since jagex could come up with 'making money off us' or they could find some legal loophole or some other stuff, remember they are a for-profit business who won quite a few awards in the online gaming industry which means they could also claim loss of earnings due to losing legit players/loss of fame(or something like that) and dont forget that they probably have lawyers working on this stuff 24/7 or else they wouldn't have posted about it.

Well sure they could take action against the actual bots, but getting actual user information would be a big no-no. IANAL, but I can bet that any reputable court would see that a business' interest is less important than safeguarding user personal information.

HAH. First time I've ever seen someone use IANAL, let alone using it correctly.

^ See the answer was that simple the whole time. Thank Bebe for clarifying

You didn't even answer the question. Saying someone might get banned for botting isn't the same as saying a bot is detectable.
