Default Runescape as we know it.

I remember back in 07-09 when this game was actually fun playing and this is what this game has come to. Yes i bot the living hell out of this game, but that is just simply because this game has TO MUCH CONTENT, it used to be if you wanted to make a pure, it took about 2 months, and about 5m, nowadays if you want to make a pure to even compete with players nowadays, it takes 6 months and about 400m.

ever since jagex sold some of their shares of the company, they just dont even care about the game anymore, this is a little bit sad to me because this game actually used to be fun, now its just not even worth it to play legit anymore.

It always confuses me why people go into wars about how we got here, and where we go when we die.

In my opinion, its the people has changed. I personally have been playing rs since 2004, and people now days are much more "dumber" than before, and more meaner and greedy. Thats why now people bot, buy gold and accs.
He means that turm pures > everything else, and you pretty much HAVE to be maxed to be competitive.

On to your point, you're talking about the RS community that has gone (severely) downhill, not the game itself. I agree that the RS community has definitely gone downhill with the amount of greed and lack of politeness, people are just plain asses now.

I agree, pking is no longer 'noob friendly', you really have to know what you're doing. All the pjers/rushers and shit are in edge, you should venture out a little and learn to brid

I agree the f2p community is not like it was at the start.. the rsbot and powerbot community has grown huge and the game is flooded by bots.

The fact that any 10 year old who makes a quick search on google and/or pays a few bucks off their parents' account can bot this game 24/7 is what makes this game suck right now. Botting used to be available to very few people, and armies were quite rare. I find it really funny that jagex can't identify a bot unless it is reprted or remains logged in for extended periods.

Yeah, I don't care about botters or people botting for personal gain, but the goldfarmers and bot armies is what bothers me, and Jagex makes it seem like it's difficult to just ban all of them.

Yeah Captchas are a awesome way of dealing with this. Instead we'll just set up a captcha exchange. Perfect. More work for legits.

Game has been shit since RCing. Game has lost a lot of it's quirkz and little things that made the game unique. Only reason why I continued to play it was because I had some good friends to play with and MMORPGs are some successful mind hacks.

Not even get into your talk about how pures cost 400m now. You also seem to mixing content with grinding.

I seriously hope you're joking. The state the game is in is so pitiful.

To me, it's definitely the players that have made RS so awful today. Seven or eight years ago, people were much nicer and didn't complain so much. Then 4chan got big, kids started being more okay with RS (it was definitely more underground back then), and kids in general just started sucking more. These whiny little a**holes are the ones that get Jagex to make such stupid changes, bot all the time on their mommy and daddy's nice computer, and just say "umad."

I can rarely ever have chat on because the kids in game are just so annoying and dumb.. Complaining about people safing and calling them nerds and no lifers and then they tele out and just lame stuff. Then they sit and complain about everything and it's just dumb.

It's been a slippery slope, and now RS has lost all control. Jagex needs to make the game harder to get rid of all of these dumb kids. Ban anyone who they have any idea at all of botting, and make membership $15 a month.

I think that's a LITTLE bit harsh, just don't take it to that extreme.

I do think botters should get a more severe punishment than what they get now, and on the subject of children whining about RS I remember seeing one guy that had gotten rolled back and said something along the lines of.. "Why did Jagex rollback my ___ I didn't even bot on it!" IMO he should be thankful he didn't get perm banned. Shit like this.

Also occasionally I have mini drop parties (just pk lewts like rune, d boots, whip is usually most expensive item) and then people have the nerve to COMPLAIN that I dropped so little or that they didn't get anything, why can't they be thankful that I dropped anything at all? I don't care if you have 100m, that level 40 over there is creaming his pants that he got an obby shield.

gotta give them something to negotiate with.

They really need to move away from the browser, Java, and as much f2p as there is, imo.

If WoW started out like RuneScape did, and RuneScape started out like WoW did (even if you just look at the language choice/browser vs non-browser choices), RuneScape would be the WoW of today, and WoW would be the RuneScape, I'm sure. They set themselves up for failure, imo.

It probably did, but that's also one of Jagex's pride and joys, that they're "The most popular FREE mmorpg" and that they're game can be played through your internet browser, and that Runescape is 100% Java. After all, that is what Jagex stands for (JAva Gaming EXperts).

Yes, I know. It doesn't stand for that anymore, by the way. It's "Just About the Gaming Experience" now.

But anyway, yeah, they're stubbornness to stick with the browser only is a bad, but understandable, decision, imo.

    Oh well.

When RuneScape is gonna go down the drain completely, we will still have programming knowledge left.

That's pretty ironic considering the hoards of bots everywhere. I wonder how much money they make off of Funorb..

I remember Jiblix from a skilling clan(Peacefull) that I was apart of in my legit days when RS wasn't over run by bots. He put in a lot of time to help out jMods to improve the game and interacted with them on a regular basis. He was a Forum/Player mod and because of this video he got demoted all because he was telling the truth about what the game has become, but JaGex took it the wrong way and thought he was telling people to not vote for RuneScape in the Golden joystick awards. [/video infomation]

To be honest, F2P is horrible. And a couple years back I actually had a good time playing this game but now there's absolutely nothing that interests me, other than merchanting, to play the game anymore. I don't really want to point the finger at other botting sites because then I would look like a hypocrite. But I think if RsBot/RsBuddy never blew up so it can be used by the average runescape player it would still be an enjoyable game.

My final thought on this is that JaGex need to come down hard on bots so it gives us more of a challenge to get away with it. I loved the anticipation of not knowing when I was going to get banned. Now there's no risk in botting everyone does it and people don't a give a rats ass about if they get banned/rollbacks(If they still do rollbacks) because it's only a 14/21 day ban and their back on the game botting again.

This game'll be dead in a couple years if they carry on trying to feed their investors banks instead of listening to the players and actually taking action not just having those petty BAM? rallies that are pretty much pointless.

tl;dr: Game will be dead sooner or later if no action is taken against the obvious bots.

Browsing through random youtube rs videomakers, I've discovered A LOT of them have videos talking about the botting problem. Most, if not all, have a good amount of subscribers (in runescape vid terms) and are pretty popular/famous. (The vids I'm posting are pretty recent too)

    Kamsa-T
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hh3AQCu5Ns

    NightmareRH

IceGiantNinetyNine (more about rwt/jagex acting as a business)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzzVeUPpMfQ

There's more and other vlogs of people talking about the botting/rwting/rs community issues, these are just some that I remembered seeing recently.

I REALLY like what IceGiantNinetyNine is doing now. Basically he has 65k subscribers and now he's moved to promoting other, lesser known, video makers. He's probably my favorite along the lines of he's doing the best for the community, there really isn't much we can do, as players, against the botting and rwting issues but this is probably the best someone could do for the community. People are willing to pay these people with thousands of subscribers just for a shout out and he's going as far as to promote people and for free.

RWTing. I have nothing else to say. Even if it's fake.
