    Default Goldfarms

I'm pretty sure that many of you here have armies, and I was wondering how you goldfarm on them and how much you earn.
I used the bone collector on 5-6 accounts when I goldfarmed, got me around 5 mill in a week with just about 5-6 hours of botting each day.

Gold farming is a term from WoW I'm not sure if it's used in RS.. Basically means botting for wealth.

On topic: I don't bot in rs to make money, just level up skills. I trade in the GE for money.

    Ahh...bot for wealth...
Yes, same as Mr. Bottomtooth. I only bot for levels, not for money.

I have an army of 8 that I usually run 24/7. Not to earn money, but to test MSI. It just so happens I earn money in the process. Since they're all F2P there's really not many great money making methods, so I usually just mine and woodcut, soften some clay, stuff like that.

I've probably made upwards of 40-50M in the past month. That's a pretty rough estimate though.

Nice specs i hate those people who "over do it" and but like 20gb ram and 2x2tb HDD and i7 for botting rs :/

    anyways YES people do GOLDFarm for rs ? here are some links;

[Links would go here if mod says i can but example one is Gold4fun.com ]

lots of goldfarmers most sites that sell gold are goldfarmers or they merch the gold eg. buy gold $0.45 then sell $0.80 >.<

Does a quadcore matter a lot? Coz I cannot run more than 3 bots without suffering immense lag on each client. Mine is a 3.0GHz Dual core with 4GB RAM.

Gold farming isn't really liked around here.

But if you really wanna gold farm you should at least be making 100 dollars a week or else its kind of...weak...

I'm honestly not the person to be asking. Google the difference between dual and quad core. I'm going to do that now, actually. E: Check this out.

For those of you who are asking about cores... Always... ALWAYS more cores will lead to a faster bot, however the NUMBER of bots that you can run is always going to be dedicated to your RAM. If you don't have a good graphic's card with a decent amount of RAM, you won't be able to run a bunch of accounts as you would like.

However, I'm not saying go out and buy a shit ton of RAM and dual SLI 2 graphic cards, but IF you want an army(which by all means you shouldn't, because essentially you're benefiting from other people's work), I'd recommend more RAM.

I thought safe mode renders graphics with cpu

I recently brought up goldfarming in another thread and was nearly forced off of this site completely.

Do I dare even talk about it?

    -

On the topic of hardware, I can give some input. Graphics cards DO NOT matter. RAM matters, but not nearly as much as CPU.

Most clients run about 500mb of memory.

Most clients use about 1-1.5 GHz CPU. Oversold VPSes powered my operation in the old days, but I needed much more power to solve the Abyss, among other things. I've started using physical dedicated boxes.

AMD FX series is probably the best for the money. Buy a BIOSTAR motherboard for a little bit of overclocking, and the cheapest parts you can find for everything else.

It is heavily down to RAM when it comes to botting. Each instance of RS uses around 300MB of RAM. Not to mention the fact that Simba is know to have it's occasional memory leaks. In addition, internet does actually have some impact. Most people probably wouldn't have an issue, but if you are unfortunate, like me, and don't have great internet, it will make RS lag a lot... Which naturally reduces the rate at which you farm things.
Also, as other people have mentioned, Software mode in RS uses your processor to render graphics, although it doesn't really use that much, as you can probably see from the fact that RS graphics is far from intense.

To put it into perspective, I can usually managed 11/12 instances of RS running while it not impairing my system too much. My specs: 8GB RAM, AMD X4 960BE (OC'd to 3.825GHz), ATi 5770 GPU, 500GB harddrive. Nothing too dramatic.

I doubt we'll be able to get such results if OGL botting gets big

Didnt really read any posts after that so pardon me if someone already replied something that ammended the question.

Basically, I have E8400, 4GB ram and NVidia 9800GT. I comfortably run 5-6 Simbas all the time without any issues and think I could run even more if I wanted so I doubt the hardware is the issue for you. I am not sure if Safe Mode helpens the load in any way or not but I am using it. I also have set the CPU load to Low on every client. Hope it helps!
