Default Computer Build, Have I Forgotten Anything?

This is a build I made for my cousin.
Can you all please look over it and make sure that I have not forgotten any parts or anything? He's planning to order it soon and I just want to double check I'm not missing anything crucial!

E: I know it doesn't include a Hard Drive, we are buying that elsewhere.
E: Also please check to make sure everything is compatible, but I'm pretty sure it all is.

looking at your build your power supply is overkill. Is there a reason you have it? But still looks like a nice simple build.

No reason in particular, my friend made/helped make my build and I have a 750W supply and similar parts so I just assumed same would be good for him. Never knew 750W was overkill, thanks.

Hmm why do they make such powerful supplies then? What would possibly use so much power, all I can think of is dual GFX cards and maybe more PCIe/PCI components and fans? I doub't fans use much though...

Its not overkill. Sure he might be able to get by on a 650 but 750 is a nice bit of extra room at a nice price. Also by the setup it looks like he would like to have the option of expanding, which he would require more power. You should always get more power then what components recommend because if you get the recommended and you put all your components under load you will burn out your PSU.

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...verview.aspx#3

Minimum is 500w for the GFX recommended is 600W

Then you throw the 125W processor on there and probably 70W for the motherboard. If you ever play a game that is intensive and runs your hardware at the peak you will want the 750w. Anything lower and you risk burning it out.

Thanks for clarification Hobbit, yeah better to have extra then too little/just enough.
It's a freaking great deal, along with the -$32 off and $10 rebate the 750 MODULAR comes out $10 cheaper than the normal 750 version! Lucky guy, modular is so awesome!

Why not upgrade to Bulldozer chips? They are significantly better than their Phenom counter parts!

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103962

$30 more, and significantly better... easily OC's to 3.6GHz

    Good Call!!!
Um, besides better GHz they are better overall all around correct?
Also, since socket is AM3+ (that is different than AM3?) so I would need a differnt MOBO?

Also, besides that, as far as you can see I have all the parts I need correct?

Yes, you are correct. And finding a new MOBO, you do not need to, but I would suggest it.

    You sure?
Mobo I picked says AM3 (not plus).
I hear AM3+ boards are compatible with AM3 CPUs.
But only certain (if any) AM3 boards can use AM3+ chips after a BIOS upgrade.
    Thanks.

That's exactly it. It might not be possible for the AM3+ to work. Its not worth risking it, in my opinion.

    Yeah, thanks.
MAN AMD is so cheap and awesome I love it!
So all parts needed are there correct? I've only made a computer once before lawls, don't want him to get a package and have something missing.

Yeah you have all the parts besides the hard drive, but you've mentioned you're ordering that elsewhere; so yeah.

yea they have lower level cache(closer to cores) so it's 'faster' by like 1000ths of a second

still worth it, they can be overclocked wayy more too

also yea your power supply can handle two graphics cards that have like double the memory of your current lol, but it isn't really the "overkill" as much as the overpriced, considering antec are the gods of psu

    750

    650

    unless you need the modular
I wish my psu was still being sold.. modular, 750w and $99

good point though, I wouldn't risk it

Also, the build I did for my Step mom used that case. Its excellent. The only down side is that all of the fans are analog controls vs. digital. Thus, you have to open the case to turn them down, etc.. Also, remember it is a mid-sized case.

It feels like good quality though. But its no CM.

Get a i5 2500 for 194.99 @ newegg right now, if your going to overclock you can get the 2500K

It is better or as good as AMD in everything

    then this mobo:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130583

    then this PSU:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151088

EDIT: AMDs extra cores mean shit
and WTF is he spending money on that computer building kit for?...you need a screw driver and your good to go

Do u have a ATX casing? I see ur buying ATX formfactor parts so I'm asking cuz i don't see it on the list there..

As for ppl being intel fanboys.. that's utter bs.. ATI >= Nvidia.. AMD >= Intel. Only thing is that u gotta find the right drivers and ones that use the cards to the max..

half the crap in my case isn't even screwed in

most of it is just on wooden platforms I made & hard drives are on little tunnel things I made with a fan at the end lol

Not even close, in fact depending on what you base the performance on AMD's older Phenom II's sometimes come out faster.

For gaming, I cannot recommend BD to anybody.

Really, I would run a 480w EarthWatts with the build he posted. A 6870 + i7 920 only pulls 300w from the wall running furmark and furmark will really be the most intensive thing that will push everything.

capricorn, stop getting hurt over anything I say..

level1, level2, level3 are levels of cache in cpu

bulldozer has level2, the other sixcores don't
