    Default Suggestion: Close Registration?

As suggested from other members, why not close SRL registration for a little bit?
    Close registration until we can:
    - Have SRL 5 ready
    - Advance MSI a bit more
    - Fix bugs
    - Advance Simba a bit more
    - Fix up the forums to aid new comers easier
    - More scripts available

    Just a suggestion .

I don't really see a point in closing it off, that would just discourage many potential new members. What we can do is make some quick changes to make new members feel more at ease here, such as create new updated tutorials and more color scripts for them to use.

We need a clear link to a download tutorial on the main page. Too many people are asking how to install everything correctly, instead of looking around for it instead.

I just made a thread, hopefully more will check that out. Anywho, sorry kingarabian, but I'm not for this idea.

That is inevitable. A leech is a leech, they are not looking to put any effort into anything. Simply refer them to tutorials, try to help them out, and hope for the best. That's the price you pay for a populated community.

I'm still wondering why the SRL Junior Members script section was removed. I'd rather have users either get SRL Members or wait the 6 months instead of leeching completely. As Flight has added before, we aren't here entirely to bot, we are mainly for scripting. Why feed the useless users more scripts? It's not like they will entirely benefit the community. Someone should post the list of color scripts offered in SRL Members to get more people to apply.

Or just leave registration open, and the developers can keep on working on the things until they are ready to be released.

If you were going to join SRL only to find out registrations were closed, you would most likely try and find another runescape macro website, amirite? I doubt they are going to check the page everyday and wait until registrations are open.

We will most likely be re-introducing members scripts to MSI. We are doing what we can, but that's only so much. I wouldn't be surprised if the jr. members script section is re-added before too long.

Hopefully, by feeding them scripts, they will want to create one themself. That is what happened to me. When I found SRL, my only intentions were to bot and leech. I was intrigued by the challenge of scripting, and I've come to love the eurika moment of figuring out an error in your script after staring at it for hours.

Sure, some will always be leechers, but that is inevitable. What we can hope for is that some will accept the challenge of scripting and grow through experience.

And where I am now But at least I can be honest about not asking any questions (not even non-stupid) until I was SRL member.
Just keep them open for now, them people aren't hurting us atm

I've always been the type of person to learn from example work. If I was able to modify an already working script then I could learn from that to see how it worked and why it was coded the way it was. If I had problems then I would check out some of the tutorials, just for further help/answers.

If I couldn't find an answer even then, then I'd make a question here on the forums with not much hope of it getting answered, but to my surprise I had some high-ranked members just come right out and give me detailed suggest. I wasn't even a Jr. member! This is the point at which I gained ALOT of respect for the community.

We don't have many color scripts right now, it would surely be a bad time to limit which of those are available to only a select group. I say release all you can, give people the chance to learn.

The only reason why I'm an SRL-Member is because of curiosity. I first came to SRL to run bots so I can level up while I was away. Then, I wanted the challenge of scripting.

Don't close out others who are looking for that challenge.

Same here. I always look at what others have coded first to get an idea on what to do. If I still need more help I go straight to tutorial island or ask someone on Msn.

I mainly make private scripts for my own use, but as soon as exams are finished I'm jumping onto the MSI scene. Have a lot of ideas.

A lot of times I only put in ~10 mins worth of work, then just commit that until I have more time. It's better than nothing

Closing the forums now, why exactly?

We already have quite some working scripts and now that people are coming here, a lot is happening. Why would you want to stop that advancement? We can use all the extra users.

Despite it being contrary to the SRL philosophy, this is a way to earn a few bucks, paid registrations.

You know what would be the best? The use of Wizzup's server to save script code on the servers, like RSBuddy did. And then, possibly have pay scripts.
