Suggestion: Close Registration?

Sorry an absolutely no to pay scripts. Were not here for a business. Primarily here to learn and contribute.

I just thought since there are so much players coming to us now, we should close up for a week and take the time to fix up some things and reorganize.

I honestly believe rsbuddy will not be the last community to close down... and this means more users coming to SRL. Don't get me wrong guys I love this influx of massive amounts of users flocking to SRL and I'm really happy.

If you're worried about stuff not working, try to fix them (such as some stuff in MSI not working properly). That's the main issue (you help newbies quite a bit I've seen). Closing down regs for a bit won't help, and will just hurt us in the end.

I don't think you read the thread. People that came here to leech are now talented scripters and high ranking staff. We want everybody that we can and hope for some to learn to script . That is how SRL works.

Not really worried about things not working I'm sure they'll be fixed in time. I was thinking if were going to have a lot more members coming in at once we will need to reorganize the forums a bit to lessen the spam load and be more new user friendly.

But it's not a done deal yet, because those communities won't neccessarly shutdown and not much users will come here yet...

Well true but it seems to me that a large percentage of these posts are "make dis script I need it plz" -requests or "this not work too hard" -posts.

That's activity, yes, but does not give a lot to the community.

I am doing my best to create some color scripts for their use. It would be nice if some of them read at least one tutorial before they PM'ed me about a user error on some of my scripts. I would be open to the idea that you must make x amounts of posts before you may download a script, to prevent leeches.

Even though I am still considered new here, I feel as though I am growing on the community (I love this community its not centered around "Runescape botting" but rather the learning aspect and the friendliness you would not generally expect from a RS related site)

Like in Rsbuddy every other post has someone swearing, complaining, being of no use to the community but here it is different everyone who posts (At least the members who post often) 99% are helpful/kind which is great!

Pay Scripts = No
It completely devalues this community, donations should be allowed if you really liked the script go for it donate!

Closing makes us more exclusive which I suppose would be nice makes people more interested in joining (Perhaps an activity monitor, keep active = keep using scripts) Something of the sort.. not sure.

For now I say Stay Open, although the majority of new users are leachers we are getting a few solid members here and there but then again I am new I don't know what everyone bases "solid" on :P

I haven't been a member here that long so I don't know whether or whether not my opinion will be heard. I have been seeing an large use of MSI from this website by numerous bots and it makes me nervous that Jagex will become more aware and work harder towards removal of color bots. Closed registration may be bad and kill off new comers but what if this site used Demonoids methods of registration. Its closed but will open every couple of months for registration on a random cycle, also you can get in by referral by existing members who are old and respected enough.

There are going to be the users who want to associate with the forum and contribute and then there are the people who want the pure profit, maybe they run websites or whatever else. I just feel that the open to everyone attitude will ruin this community eventually. Generosity and openness like this usually does not go well on the internet.

Also, how far fetched would a log in process be for MSI that requires you enter your forum name and password be?

The thing is though if you really want the best scripts you need to be a contributing member to the community. (SRL member) so there is a good check and balance system in place.

So when someone mirrors the installer on another website and some joe smoe gets to download it from rapidshare they wont be able to use it.

But its based around this community, there will be people who have no interest in this community and who only want to use these scripts. A login would filter them out along with more restrictive registration and leave us with mainly people who want to be a part of the community.

That would happen but doing what I suggested earlier and making registration closed and open on a cycle and by referral, the amount of people doing it would be lower than if it were open.

You know what would be the best? The use of Wizzup's server to save script code on the servers, like RSBuddy did. And then, possibly have pay scripts.

We don't sell scripts here because we are free and open. We aren't/don't want to be RSBuddy.
