Default We should have a snippets section.

Hey villavu community, I personally think we should have a snippets section to post bit's of useful function's we have made that might help other user's. I know this community is learning based so most of you might disagree but it also might help experienced community members by seeing different way's of making a function or a better way of finding a object that isn't in the srl includes. I know myself learn off example and tinkering with others codes and learning how it work's. I believe we all would benefit from a snippets section. What are all your opinion's on this?

Sounds like a very good idea. I also wanted something like this in the documentation. Snippets are good examples as well.

I recall that we had a section like this, though...

I dont remember something like this but it would be useful... Ive seen people post snippets and useful functions in the additions section in the SRL section

I'm bumping this back up because I'd really like to see this happen. Is this even being considered?

We used to have this for Srl Members... Yeah I do remember it. Actually a lot of good stuff was found in there.

Aye, this would be a most-appreciated addition to the forums.

yea I think that is a good way to learn, you can see how single functions work

This would be an awesome addition and help the learning curve a ton. Most of my experience in coding has been learned through "snippets" that I've applied to actual programs I'd later written.

Where should this subforum be placed? I'll add it once we reach a consensus.

Perhaps tutorial island? Snippets won't really be doing anything BUT helping people, no?

Hmm, I would say where the majority of people come for scripts which would be "Public Scripts" under the "SRL Public Forum". Seeing that it's all scripting related it could only be logical to put it under "Public Scripts" in my own opinion.

Though I believe you should place it wherever you all decide to. I think it would be a great addition seeing people like myself struggling to learn the scripting language.

Personally, if I can see snipplets of anything at all I can begin to understand the language much easier than watching tutorials. I'm not sure if it's that way for anyone else but this would be helpful for users and scripters alike.

In my opinion Tutorials Section is a perfect place for snippets as they are not full pieces of code but rather examples of methods to learn from (aka tutorial).
