    Default Deformed Looking Items

I think this is already known but often times a lot of items look cut off/deformed.
    Example:
    Book of Knowledge
    Should look like

    http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...Experience.png
    Looks like:

    http://i.imgur.com/Hrasa.png

Either they did actually change the shape of it (stupid looking ), or sometimes items just seem to look deformed for some reason...

I've noticed it happening occasionally to random items, and I think its just a glitch. The first day the update came out it happened all of the time. I've only noticed it happening like once in the last couple days so I don't think its an intentional thing.

I notice it a lot in the bank when the item is the first item in a bank tab. The image that appears in the bank itself is normal, but the one up top in the bank tabs is deformed. Drives me crazy trying to make a DTM that works in bank, bank tabs, and inventory.

I'm not 100% sure this isn't deliberate/ a bug deliberately left unfixed. It certainly makes it more challenging scripting.

If it's the same spots of items that get caught off then it's possible to work around it, would just take a bit of research. Otherwise, it may be less efficient (speed-wise), but you can still search and sort the actual colors of the items.

It appears to always be the same spots that get cut off.

I'm sure it's a bug in RS that Jagex is aware of. I can't imagine they'd leave something that silly in the game. I'm sure there are legit players complaining about it.

The more I think on it I think it is deliberate. I've noticed single items tend to be cut off at the corners, but appear whole once you have 2 or more. A similar effect can be seen with Coins where the size of the stack grows with the number of coins in the pile.

This is clearly deliberate. They are probably trying to ruin using DTMs of the black outlines. The item sprites are not the same between your inventory and bank.

I have also noticed, especially on ores but probably on other items as well, that sometimes extra black streaks (could be confused as shading but are deliberate) appear on the light parts of the ore. This would mess up counting the number of black pixels in the object to identify it. Jagex is getting serious about messing with color bots; I'm not sure how RiD does object identification so I can't tell if this is targeted at them or us.

I don't think it is deliberate. If it was, they could do it much, much better. It's always the same part of the item that's cut of, so for a DTM you can simply exclude that side of the item, simple. MSI still relies on DTMs and as far as I know, they're all still working. Some have had to be remade to compensate, but it's a very easy workaround.

I still think it's a bug. If I was a game developer, it would annoy me to have a silly glitch like this in the game, especially when it doesn't accomplish anything. Why would you purposely have items change like that?

They would be better off to have a slightly different look to the item depending if it's in the inventory or bank. A small enough difference that it's noticeable, but not annoying, so that it could break DTMs (or have to have more than one for each item).

But honestly, I don't really think there's a way they can break item recognition without seriously changing the way the game looks.

If they totally wanted to break DTMs, they'd remove the black outline

I agree with Coh3n, it's more like a bug, because it does nothing to enhance/take away from RS at all.

It's been like this for a while now, and it sucks when you've made a DTM that won't get identified because it uses a cut-off section :S

Well, exclude the part of the item that is cut off from the DTM.
