Keep good standards, learn all of what you can at your own pace and have an open mind.

    I recommend starting here:

    http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12154
    http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60288

Then ending back here when you get stuck or in #Srl (Rizen)

I am a beginner at scripting too but those links, this category and the IRC have been very valuable resources.

Learn pascal/pascalscript(they're almost the same if you're using it for scripting in Simba)
Look at other people's scripts and try to understand what they are doing(Dont take scripts that are longer than ~400 ish lines)

Try to reproduce what they are doing without looking at their script. Start small, something like logging in automatically, moving the mouse, changing compass, etc. If you ever have any doubts you can always go on the IRC channel or post on the forums.
