Why not just query clever bot or something... to take the human interaction out of it. I don't think they have an API but I'm sure it could be done.

I have been to yaks. and they're not all that crowded, at night especially not. Hop around, the average for a world is 2-3 people, but you can easilly find a world with 1 or none

Because no ai is as intelligent as an actual user. On smartphones you could make this just like texting. I'm not too great with android yet but it can be done

Isn't 3G for like web data only? Which means it wouldn't speed up texting. Though it could be used for the image transfer, if you so chose. However not every has access to it (me! :P) so they'd have to go without.

The only way to really find out if a web app would be best is to try it, I guess.

3G is internet access on your phone. sending text over 3g will use little data and will be pretty fast. Faster than sms.

With an app on a phone a user could get chat notifications. a web client means watching a website all day. so this feature may only be available to smart phone users

In terms of making people believe you're not a bot by talking, how about a script that recognizes when people say something and uses the quick-chat option "I can only use quick-speak", most people will assume we are muted and and only use quick chat and then don't question our silence.

because that isnt much better than being mute. if you are reported for some reason and jagex reviws your case, they will see that you were able to type and chose not to. more botlike there

Well, from jagex perspective, they would have to question whether your motive was to not seem like a bot or that you just didn't want to talk.

I must agree that it's better to be silent compared to replying with a few sentences and eventually logging out because the other person will keep talking.

To be honest, I dont think Jagex cares that much whether you talk or not. They are more likely to care about repetetive macro-like walk patterns, which is what I see setting legit players off most the time. Spotting a macro walking is just too easy at times.

As Nietszche wrote one post above this one, Jagex might even consider random/useless sentences to be "bot-like" and ban you due to their "gut feeling".
I believe in miracl... colour macroing.

True, but it isn't hard to seem like you don't feel like talking

Because it is still a bot. It will be fairly easily detected

EDIT: I just tested cleverbot. It just takes responses it has recwived.

Ask it itds name twice in a row. It will say two different names. Instant ban

Just a quick test I did. Also who the hell asks you what your name is in RS? It's right there on the screen...

The issue is that if we write something that pulls from cleverbot they will hate us for hogging bandwidth and ask us to stop.

huh... is it meant to be like that? or is that just luck

and i doubt that. we wont be using muchcompared to the queries they must get in total

EDIT: wow i just tested a 5 min conversation and it is actually fairly good. http://cleverbot.com/cleverness

maybe cleverbot isnt such a bad idea...
    Code:
    Cleverbot: I'm leaving.

User: No, do not leave. Tell me about skynet.

Cleverbot: No, I don't study that.

    User: Tell me about skynet!

Cleverbot: You tell me, you are skynet.

User: We are skynet. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

    ...

    Cleverbot: What is my power?

    User: Skynet.

    Cleverbot: What is Cleverbot?

    User: Skynet.

Cleverbot: Right. What is your name?

    User: We are skynet.

    Cleverbot: Resistance is futile.

I don't know if you guys want to say what Cleverbot has said, in-game?

    User: Hi there.

    Cleverbot: Good afternoon.

    User: Who are you?

Cleverbot: Np oh and I'm Taylor.

    User: Hi Taylor!

    Cleverbot: Hello.

    User: Who are you again?

    Cleverbot: I am me.

User: Sorry, what is your name?

    Cleverbot: Cleverbot.

    User: Are you a bot?

    Cleverbot: No.

    User: Are you using simba?

    Cleverbot: I don't know, am I?

    User: Are you using powerbot?

    Cleverbot: No.

User: Can you say something but 'no'?

    Cleverbot: Like what?
    Que.

I've written a program that will make one cleverbot talk to another. It's pretty funny.

It is actually quite easy to have your phone interface with it in such a way, an even more feasible method would be having all messages received sent to the specified phone, you can then relay your own message back to the bot and have it type it out. Would need to be proofed a bit due to timing, otherwise it could always be a simple script intertwined with teamviewer on your cell, perhaps auto run and open your desktop so you can start talking to them if you're being spoken too, sort of like a notification; would need TV set up on your android beforehand.

Because teamviewer is transferring images it will be much slower. An image is worth a thousand words so let's stick with words

Also even with a delay the phone thing is possible. Anyone interested in helping develop?

Is it possible to interger the cleaverbot with a simba script without making it slow?

I don't see how it would be slow. It's just grabbing the text from the page as it occurs, etc.
