    Default PS2 Games?

So, I am interested in playing a lot of PS2 games lately. Probably for the epic nostalgia that I feel and the fact that they are at least three hundred times more interesting and fun than modern games.

I was wondering what you all would think would be great games for me to play? I personally love RPG games and such. I'm not very good at shooting games, but I can manage.

Here is the current list of games that I have in my "Library" that I will be playing over the next month or two. Maybe even longer:
    Code:
    .hack series, including gu,
    Final Fantasy X,
    Persona 3 FES
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I always liked the Jak & Daxter series right along with the Ratchet & Clank series. They're a lot of fun.

    Current projects:
[ AeroGuardians (GotR minigame), Motherlode Miner, Blast furnace ]

As said I also believe Ratchet & Clank series is one of the best for the era, I liked GTA San Andreas for a shooter/adventure and Devil May Cry 2 is a pretty fun RPG/Fantasy.

I've been playing a lot of PS2 lately as well due to finally buying one about a year ago. I never have the money to buy the new systems right when they come out so I am always about a generation behind. I'm probably going to be buying a 360 for the first time in less than a month.

Love FFX and let me know how the .hack series is because I have been thinking about checking it out. I love RPG's as well and just recently bought some that I have yet to try out but they look pretty cool.

Xenosaga - My friend says this game has a crapload of cut scenes but the story is very interesting so make sure you have some popcorn

Valkyrie Profile 2 - I don't know much about this game but on GameFaqs it received very good reviews so I thought I'd check it out as it was only 10 bucks

Phantasy Star Universe - I didn't know this until recently that they made a PS2 version of this game.

If you ever want to venture off the RPG path, Star Wars Battlefront is always fun and I'm really into this beat em up game series called Dynasty Warriors. It's extremely addicting.

I'll check out Xenosaga and Valkyrie Profile 2. I remember renting Xenosaga and being so lost. I think it's time to give it a fair chance.

I've never heard of Phantasy Star Universe, was it originally a PSX game?

I've been playing the first game of the gu series of .hack and it's great so far. It's probably because of the fact that I've watched all of the .hack animes.
I would honestly start out at the first anime series and then the games for that series. Then move on to gu, just so that you aren't lost.

But it's fine if you start out with just watching the gu series on the internet and then playing the gu game series.

It's a great fluid game and it's like watching an anime in itself. The action in it is a lot of fun too.

I'll check out the other suggestions. I remember playing them on my mother's PSX, lol. They were a lot of fun then.

My roommates are OBSESSED with persona games. Just today my friend got an RPG made by Atlus (company that made persona, sp?) and it's supposed to be a big step up from persona and super awesome you should search for it!

These lists are always awesome, They include a lot of lesser known gems too:

Shadow of the Colossus - Exploring huge landscape and huge boss fights (short game ).

    Star Ocean 3 - square-enix...

Dark Cloud 1 or 2 - For random generated dungeons, building villages and lots of weapon upgrades and combinations.
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world,
and men loved the darkness rather than the Light,
    for their deeds were evil.

The Phantasy Star Series was originally on Sega. When it hit Dreamcast it turned into an MMO with offline content. Very addicting. I have yet to watch any of the .hack anime series but I'll get on that as I recently started getting into anime and really enjoy it.

Dark cloud is one not on your list. Don't forget final fantasy 8 and 9 as well.

Dark Cloud 2 / Dark Chronicle is also a solid play.

-Persona games have a nice place in my heart.
-Final Fantasy 10's a good title. 12's an abomination imo though.
-Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 are great fun.

I'm a sucker for good stories.

One of the few games I really played from beginning to end. Great gameplay and a decent storyline. The original Dark Cloud (one of the PS2 launch titles?) is also a nice game imo Those games waste a lot of time, I'm always disappointed that all of those recent games got single player campaigns where you measure time til completion in days rather than months
If you like RPGs, try Disgaea. I already wasted 100+ hours on that game and still not completed, though I haven't played it in over a year. It's also ported to the PSP and DS (there's even talk about an android port!).
Metal Gear series for obvious reasons. I played 1, 2 and 3 way too much (but have yet to start playing 4, it's just catching dust here).
Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas for obvious reasons.
As I'm a big fan of RPGs, Kingdom Hearts (1 and 2) should also be on your list of games to play.
If you're bored: We <3 Katamari, original game but there are 23213213821013 spinoffs nowadays.

Note: I know that Disgaea and especially Dark Cloud 1 can be hard to come by. Modded PS2 is recommended (and those people who say those never last: I got my fat PS2 9.5 years ago with the original Messiah chip. It has only seen a few legit games but it's still going strong!).
I made a new script, check it out!.

Meh... get a PSX emulator and download Chrono Cross. To this day, my all time favorite game. Might also try Chrono Trigger before Chrono Cross, it's the prequel.

By the way, if you have an android phone you can download the PSX emulators and play both on your phone. Probably more worth while for the computer, though.

GTA III + GTA Vice City, those were very hard games to complete, one shot gun that gets you and baam half your hp was gone, unlike GTA San Andreas which was long but really easy

P.S - You can never get tired of Tommy Vercetti

    The Star Wars are awesome!
GTA kind of sucks after about a half hour of playing (Killing gets old )
Guitar Hero is kind of fun
Need for Speed: Underground, Most Wanted, and the other one on a track.
Ratchet and Clank for sure (all of them!)

I play both XBox 360, Ps3, and Ps2 so its killing me to decypher which games are on which console.

That's where your wrong about GTA, I think you only played it for the fun of it never actually done any missions? The missions are about SMACK (crack but in GTA lingo ;p) but yeah the missions are very hard in 3 and Vice City it will take you a hours to complete good to revisit and the classic original cars like the infernus in GTA 3 WOWIE! It was just so basic and sleak just made you fall in love

Champions Return to Arms and Champions of Norrath were sick and are kind of like an old version of skyrim (like Dungeon Siege series if you know what it is).
    Kingdom Hearts FTW too!

No I've beaten them all... but to me, after 2 police chases I fall asleep. It's just not as exhilarating as when you weren't allowed to own the game because you're parents hated it but you bought it anyway and only played it when they were not home.
