Default Help me build my new PC!

Sorry I know this is obviously the wrong place, there's absolutely no where to post this kind of stuff so what's Networking closest to... Programming I guess :P

Hey guys I'm looking into building my new PC once I get my taxes back + some extra money from work I'd like to spend between 1,000 - 2,000 just depends on my needs.

This PC will be built for botting, I doubt I'll do this 24/7 but I'd like to see how many bots I can run at a time. I think running 30 bots on one desktop would be pretty bad ass don't you ?

    CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115095
    i7 sandy bridge
    $300 -___-

reason: I'm running 3 bots atm using 100% of my CPU, but I'm only using 2.33GB of my ram(physical memory) therefore CPU seems to be the MAJOR factor in running thousands of bots. Kind of confusing since I always thought ram let you run more programs at once but oh well.

    RAM

    MotherBoard

    Tower

    Don't want any drives

    Energy

    Fan

For thousands of bots, I'd go for Dual Mobo configuration with a pair of Xeons =)

Never gave 2 motherboards a thought -__-. I guess I'll research how you'd do that in school tomorrow.

I would recommend against double processors, dual motherboard computers don't exist (Would be dumb anyway) unless I missed something important in the past few years.

Just get a multicore like everyone else, double processors are wasted money which don't give you the level of power you wanted to begin with all it does is split up the work load.

Also sandy bridge? Why would you get that, sure it costs more money but it sucks it is no better than a $40 graphics card. Just buy a real graphics card.. trust me you could buy a pre-built with a graphics card that beats that by a lot for under 1k.

    i7-3930K -550
GTX 560 -180 (Still wipes the floor with your sandy bridge, not the best but VERY good for the price)

Total: 730, can be overclocked as well both the GPU and the CPU. I think nvidia actually underclocks so give that a try.

He probably meant dual socket mobo. (2 processor on 1 mobo)

But I agree, that would be not worth th money.

Upper model i7 with lots of ram

I read an article about how sandy bridge sped up your ghz as well and wasover all a better buy. I forgot what site it was from... It was a trust worthy source though

It terms of raw power it doesn't compare to an actual gpu. The only reason it is faster is because it is connected to the cpu/part of the cpu. Sandy bridge is not powerful enough to play high intensity games but is more useful for general casual strolling with light game play.

25 runescapes seems to be the limit on one machine, you'd have to proxy some.. so maybe get two separate machines proxy 1 leave the other as real IP.. but I run 25 with ease and it doesn't let you load more

other people have said the same thing

the 2700k is a waste of money, 2600k is fine.

feel free to PM me for help, I have a few other people who I'm building for right now for different things, hard to keep track of threads so just PM

The k series are a waste of money in general if you arent overclocking. The mone saved is like 4GB of ram.

Simba is single threaded correct? I was trying to figure out what CPU would be best for botting and how many names it could actually run. I've seen people claim to be able to run 25 names but all I can do is 7 or so max on an i7 860 3ghz quad core + 8 threads.

Would the FX-8150 be good? It's 8 cores around 4ghz each.

    I could also get a 12-core Magny-Cours.

Do you have enough down and up speeds to run all those bots?

That'd be like asking if I use DSL or dial up -.- Yes, I have far above and beyond the required bandwidth.

And I'm not going to run that many, I just want to know what processors can etc

With virtual machines, a good graphics card, dual core atleast with i5's or better. And like 4gb + ram you should be good to go. If you want to know what's best for the money this site ranks computers and video cards - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

There's even an option for costs for what's best for your money. Site looks pretty legit to me. Note that usually the newer the processor is, the better the computer will be. Also Canadians sell really nice computers compared to in United States. My local walmart has sold the same computer model's for years. Never buy a damn pentium processor , or from Best Buy. Best Buy = Worst buy usually when dealing with computers. Specs are everything.
