Default Building a new gaming PC

I will just copy-paste the post I also submitted to tomshardware.co.uk. The original post can be seen from here. Basically I need help with building my new gaming PC. It will be for many other games besides RS, thats why I need the additional power.

    Budget Range: Near 600€
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and surfing
Parts Not Required: Keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor
    Country: Inside EU
    Overclocking: Maybe
    SLI or Crossfire: No
    Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

I am looking for a new computer build. Mainly gaming as you can see from the upper half of my post. I have already checked a bunch of reviews and I am going to use Intel i5 2500k processor and Nvidia GTX 460 videocard, unless you can suggest me something better. As for the memories, I would like to get atleast 8GB and as fast as my budget will allow.

I would like to know what motherboard, memories and PSU you guys here suggest me to use.

The budget is around 600€. When looking at ebay.co.uk, the processor would cost me roughtly 210€ and the video card is 170€.

That would leave me 220€ for:
    Motherboard
    Memories
    PSU
    HD
    DVD Rom
    Casing
    (did I miss anything)?

I would like the build to be as cheap as possible so IF it is possible to not reach the budget mark(nice dream?), I would be very happy.
(As a little side question, how can I tell that a motherboard supports some processor?)

Thanks a lot for your help!

I will be playing a big variety of games, from lets say Valve games like CS, TF2 to BF3, Crysis and so on. The system will last for 3-4years so hard to tell. What I know is that some will be 2 core supporters, others will be multi cores. Do you have any links to the products you suggest?

    What about this

This goes over your budget. But if your gonna play bf3 i recommend atleast 560ti, you will be able to play with avg 60 fps on medium on 1920x1080.

Note: Forgot hdd so that will add 50-100+ euros more.

    This is from http://www.jimms.fi/
Sure you will get a little cheaper if buying from germany or uk but remember shipping cost too or if something is broken when you get it, you have to send back and that takes time and shipping cost. Paying a little bit more will avoid that hassle. But it's totally up to you if you find yourself comfortable with buying abroad.

This goes a bit too much over the budget. I have been eyeballing one company from Estonia that sells stuff very cheap. Also, did some quick googleing(for newegg alternatives) and overclockers.co.uk is reasonably good site for some of the parts and it is a bit cheaper then Jimms.

Btw, did you notice that you are missing HDD?
// Never mind, just saw your comment.

I am currently considering downgrading the CPU and getting the 560ti, but I am not really sure if it even then fits in my budget.

buy a combination of these items and then you will also have tons of room to upgradebility later on.

Start with 1 cpu (12 cores if ur cheap 16 if u not) throw in atleast two of those video cards right off the bat, maybe 40gb of ram just because its soo cheap and you can upgrade to 256gb with that motherboard. You could consider using a less powerful PSU but I would get that one just to support future upgrades. Also dont forget about your cooling needs and get a case that is double size with support for ATX motherboard mounting. If you really cheap out you could build a solid system with like $1000 so that should be in your price range.

Also if any1 sees and issue with my above build, let me know I'm going to be doing a build very similar to it soon

16 cores and 40gb is a little overkill for a gaming computer, its nice to plan for the future but its expensive as hell, 4-8 cores with 8-16gb ram and 1g video card would do just fine on just about any game currently out there.

Thats a nice dream but there is no way in hell I can even afford the 1000$ build. Newegg is cheap but when ordering to EU I have to pay 23% to the customs. The budget is around 800$.

As for the 40GB RAM.. thats very overkill for what I am building. Did you even read what I was asking or you just posted some cool gear?

I have set up the following setup. It burst my budget but it seems rocksolid as far as I can tell:

    http://overclockers.co.uk/search_res...=&search=2500k

    Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit 43€
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-290-CS

OcUK Swift 500W V2 Silent Power Supply 22€
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=123&subcat=

    Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM 100€
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...14&subcat=1279

OcUK Vantage Gaming Tower Case - Black 36€
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...atid=7&subcat=

    LG GH22NS70 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) 23€
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...tid=10&subcat=

    Total: 753€

Comments? I am not sure about the PSU and other comments would be helpful.

ROFL this was a good laugh, I hope you're joking.. horrible machine for gaming. upgrade to 256gb for cheap? you're bad at math

16GB sticks of ECC memory, do they even exist yet? if so they're far from cheap, in fact.. that's a couple thousand per stick I'd assume

highest you'll get is 128GB on that, needless to say it's a bad system for gaming.

@OP you're not going to get a great system with your 600, you'll need more for a better graphics card.. just take off graphics prices of rally's first post and you'll be getting a good system with a bad card.. I'd go with the card he has minimum if you want to game decent quality

rally's other post is pretty good too.

I would change the GTX 560 Ti to a GTX 570 but it would burst my budget even more. I already upped it to 750€. From what Ive heard, the 560 Ti is one of the best card for that price range, quite equal to HD 6950.

In the end, I am very happy with my setups CPU, GPU and mobo. I will have to think about memories and everything else thought.

// Found out that if using faster then 1333Mhz RAM's with 2500k, the warranty is void, so downgraded memories to that. Cost is around the same.

that warranty thing isn't true.. also 1600mhz is the best speed for sandybridge right now, you can go 1333mhz make sure latency speeds are 9 or under and you won't notice performance changes unless benchmarking

fyi there is no game you need more than a total of 4GB memory for, so getting 8 will allow you to multitask very well

Allright, thanks! My mind is pretty much set up on what Im going to use now. I will switch the PSU for Antect's 550W and also casing will be different. In addition to that, HDD will be downgraded to 500GB and I will use my old computers 500GB HDD as an extra if needed. Mainly doing it because of the inflated prices right now.

That will take my setup under or very close to 700€ mark, witch I am very pleased with.

Didn't really read what you wanted to do, but I saw the builds that everyone else were posting and they were all very similar, So I thought I would post something wildly awesome for your consideration. Sure right now you just want a gaming system, but if you had even just 1 cpu and 1/4 of the dimms on that one filled you also have 4 pci-e 16's to play around with for your graphic's options. Who knows what having all that extra potential horsepower would make you do, or make possible!
