    Default Symantec Network Proxy Service

That box comes up whenever I restart my machine. If I click "Don't Send" it won't let me get online. (My laptop's still online, but it brings up the "Cannot find server" page whenever I try to go anywhere.)

I usually just drag it to the lower right hand corner of my screen, and it's fine. But if I accidently click to close it, I'll have to restart my machine. (Very annoying.)

    Please help if you can

    -Mike

click start then run then type in regedit

    then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/run

delete the registry value of symantec network proxy service so that it doesnt start up every time you boot your comp. That should fix the problem. If it isn't in local machine, search in current user instead.

    Awesome, thanks

Can you tell me what Symantec Network Proxy Service does? Why is it giving me this error? Is it a problem with my machine? Is my laptop going to crash?

The process is called ccProxy.exe, it eats alot of cpu + ram, kill it.

It's part of norton internet security I believe. It wont crash your laptop, just slow it down a bit.

    Thanks

I found the process in my Task Manager, but when I try to end it, it says that the access is denied

That bugs me. It's my machine, I shouldn't be told that I can't do something on it.

Anyways, how do I get access do it?

    Go to run-> type 'msconfig'->Startup (tab)->uncheck 'ccProxy.exe'->hit 'ok'->hit 'restart'

Anyways, if that doesn't work, just get rid of Norton, and use the free ZoneAlarm, and AVG Free. awesomest programs ever!

my method is the same as smartzkids but that disables the registry value, doesn't delete it permanently.

Hmm....I see why you might want to remove it permanently, but what if disabling it messes something up?

@Jason: I recommend you try my way first, and if it doesn't mess anything up, then try Sp0rk's; "better safe than sorry"
