Answering the first post I would like to say that if he/she don't have time to play RuneScape why does he/she even have an account for that game?
Scripters sometimes add an anti-leacher to their scripts to stop people abuse their scripts and to make them learn how to code so we can have a bunch of people that knows to do something on this community, an not only ask for thy script or the other script that gives plenty money.
Leachers tend to take advance of the others in order to do RWT.
We (SRL) hate goldfarmers, so we avoid to create scripts that allow people to get some large quantity of money, on this game. Some of those scripts are kept to members, to avoid goldfarming and/or to avoid prices to crash ( grand exchange ).
What scripters do it's for your own good ( everyone who does not agree with adding anti-leaching to the scripts ).
It ain't hard to fix those small errors! Some of them can be found at forum. Or you can simply learn how to script, and make all the scripts that you would like to have.
If you don't have time for it , then get it!
This is a way to encourage new members!

Scripters in most cases have to put in many hours of work, atleast a simple anti leech will deter some users, the oens that can't be bothered to learn something usually easy. I guess it makes the scripter feel like they are getting more out of all their hard work.
So I support antiban![]()

I work full time, but have still managed to become a decent scripter on SRL (villavu w/e)
I keep my scripts private only because I edit existing ones. Personally I disagree with Anti Leech, scripting is time consuming considering all the testing that needs to be done even if you know what your doing. Let people pwn RS by suicide botting, the game is shit anyways might as well give people a fighting chance to see the small area of fun that it has (when your character is maxed/pure w/e) even then it gets old lmao. I thought that as one of the things that goes without saying, but I'll say it so everyone is on the same page.
People can do whatever they like with their script, including making it abysmal to read with no regard to indentation and using useless variable names and using labels/goto and throwing in a dozen nested if..then..else's. However, as a community, there is a standard we like to push forward. My entire post was with the mentality that a scripter can do what they like, but that as a community we should encourage them not to put in anti-leech as part of our practising standards.
By reading this signature you agree that mixster is superior to you in each and every way except the bad ways but including the really bad ways.
Adding Anti-Leech doesn't make anyone learn how to script, if anything, it makes them learn the very basics.

I don't mind either way, I personally think the scripter should be allowed to do what ever they want to THEIR script.
Whether you want to go as far as a "assemble yourself" or just a simple error like converting a script half way to SRL 5 and making the user do the other half.

Like others have said, it's up to the scripter.
SRL, the way I see it, has been more about learning than botting in RS. If a leecher can't get a script to work for whatever reason, don't use it, simple. If you don't like a division between registered users and members, leave, don't cry about it.
Personally, I'm perfectly happy living in the shadows of other bots. It (usually) gets rid of the people we don't welcome here anyway.

If one who does not know how to fix errors, he/she does not deserve to use a script at all. You can say that you're busy with real life or whatever you want, but it is very wrong as a script user to complain about anti-leech.
For a script writer however, I believe this is his/her decision. I would prefer either completely private vs releasing it to the public though, because a decent amount of leechers have no regards about what you have achieved - once they get it working and see their cash stack rising, they will start flooding the spots/ dumping the goods. Your script is just a means to an end.
If anything, I just prefer an all or nothing approach. Anti-leech had nice intentions at the beginning, but it always seems to end up with massive spam complaining it doesn't work, lots of PMs directed to members for fixing them, and even more requests in the requests section asking for a completely working version.
Still, I just want to say that whoever thinks they think is their rights to get a script without doing anything (be it fixing compilation errors, or updating colors, or other easy stuff etc), you don't deserve to be botting at all. We make scripts here at villavu for free. Take some time to understand this.
Personally, I do not like the idea of anti-leech, whoever doesn't want to learn ... does not have to; I script for the public and will keep supporting both Members and Public.

I feel that it should be up to the scripter to chose if they want leech control enabled. I personal dont have a problem with a leach, as long as it is a silent leach. I grow tired of post after post from someone that just signed up saying "your script is broken" or "I downloaded your script and how do I run it?" I would say that one in 20 that download a script will have enough interest to create their own script. This leads to the idea floating around for a junior member class, and junior member script section. I think that a bunch of currently "Public" scripts would end up moving to a "Junior Scripts" section.
I guess the other thing that rubs me the wrong way, is 400+ people have downloaded my fire maker, and all I generally hear is that there is an issue, or complaining about what it is, and no posts about how they appreciate that I bothered putting it up for all to download, or that they dont have to manually play the game with the script.
Edit:
Just an afterthought, having them uncomment (or comment) smart is kind of an anti leach already for a lot of new users![]()

"Should or should their be anti-leech." Your poll doesn't provide many options lol. I believe there should. If everyone here was an intelligent gamer who simply had no interest in coding and person then I would say no, but that is definitely not the case.
We had something like 300-400 guests and 24 members online yesterday. I don't care if there's an anti-leech or not but at least there should be a rule where you MUST own an account before downloading.
I assure you that right now there will be more guests than members on by almost double, go have a look now.
A quote of yesterday's statistics:
Current statistics:Users active in the past 24 hours: 4762 (1740 members and 3022 guests)
It's appalling.Currently Active Users: 148 (55 members and 93 guests)

Anti-leech slows the learning process.. There didn't used to be such a thing! Asking for help may be necessary, but leaving someone to fix a script that they didn't code, doesn't make sense. If you want to share, then share.. If not, then that's good too.
Is there any way to just make these people have a minimum of 10 posts or so, in order to be able to download any attachments ??

That is bad, should be required to be a member to download at least, and I wouldn't mind seeing a post count requirement. I know I would fall well below it, but make the requirement as 100 posts or even 5o posts. Once they reach it have a special group of members that read through some or all of their posts to see if it was spam, or if they seem like they're willing to try to be a good part of the community. If they pass then allow them access to public scripts. Until they get access to public scripts though give them some simple scripts used for little useless tasks that they can open up and see how it's put together to get a feel for scripting. That would not only stop leeching, but make the community look more like what all the members are seeming to want this forums to be, a place to learn. Shows that new members are willing to put in effort and not just steal the work scripters put into the scripts. If this is a stupid idea don't flame too hard lol. Just trying to throw out some ideas.![]()
Up to the scripter which was added late after the first 20 votes made has already taken 18 of the 35 votes after 20. If anyone would like to change their vote to that please let me know.![]()

Just pointing this out.
10 "Registered Users" Voted Yes to adding something
15 "Registered Users" Voted No to adding something.
(On a side note 9 of those members are well under 100 post and 4 of those under 3 posts one has never even posted after being here 3 months)
8 "Registered Users" Voted to leave it up to the scripter.
I found it ironic that the low guys on the totem pole are not wanting it added. They don't want their free ride to end. This should have been a members only voting in my opinion. If that were the case Not adding the Anti-Leaching would be in last. Leaches come out of the woodwork when they think they may have to put in effort to get free skills and RSGP. I am nothing on this site and this point, and I know that and am not saying I am any better then those other Users under 100 posts, but I am learning slowly but surely and trying to make an effort. But as Members have stated, this site should be used to learn, shouldn't need scripters holding your hand through everything forever.
People with access to higher scripts have the ablity to post their scripts in the members section, which kind of prevents leeching in the first place. They are (I would hope) aware that when they post a script in the public section, that leeching may occur. However, if all that anyone who first joins has access to are scripts that are outdated/dont work, they will just move on, and very few (if any) will see the full potential that simba offers for RS and other stuff.
