You can't block your IP. Your IP is sent when you initiate a connection so that the server knows where to send data back to. A proxy MAY be possible but not sure. As Sirenia stated, if you guys live in the same city there should be nothing wrong.

Yes, you can't block your IP, and you should be fine if y'all are in the same city. However, if you get paranoid, you can get a VPN (virtual private network) which you both could connect to, and it would give y'all the same IP address.
