    Default Internet help.

Alright, so I'm at college and i live in the dorms and they have wireless and ethernet ports that run into every room obviously. So my problem is the wireless is super laggy, and the wired connection randomly stopped working -_-. In the "connection center" on my laptop it says "unidentified network, no network access" I'm not sure if this is an error with my laptop, the dorms, or the isp. If anyone has any help I would appreciate it.

Reset the connection or troubleshoot the connection. You can try re-installing the driver. If none of those work then it's the ISP.

    Try these in CMD:

    IPconfig /all

If the IP starts with 169.x.x.x.x then you have a conflict with IP assigning. Make sure your router gives out dynamic IP's.

    IPconfig /release
    IPConfig /renew

That should renew the connection and hopefully fix anything. Else do everything manually. Right click the icon in the system tray and press troubleshoot. If that doesn't work re-install the driver. Anything else is the ISP's fault or your wiring/setup.

Make sure you are connecting to the internet using the right SSID. Because in my college, they have 2 different SSID's for connecting, but only one of them named 'guest' (Why guest?? I'm a student!!) is the one you can connect to.

Another likely case is that you will be required to enter your student id and password when you click internet because most schools have wireless hotspots; so they can keep track of what you are doing online.

If all fails, restart your computer, disable your wireless card or Ethernet card by viewing them in device manager, wait 60 secs, then re-enable the ones you disabled.

If this still fails and you have tried the above solutions, then either take it to an it tech in the school or use of the computers in the library to find a solution online.

If you have an I.T department you might be able to get their help? Or ask others who have connected to the network how they did it?
