    Default Metric Vs Imperial

I figured given this forum has a wide US(or nearby) community it'd be worth an ask.

How do you guys feel about still using the imperial system given the rest of the world has moved on, to the more straight forward and logical metric system?

I personally have worked in a timber yard since I was 14 (coming on 5 years now..) and being born decades since Australia adopted the metric system it is quite irritating for me when customers from the general public use feet and inches for me. Despite having worked there long enough that the conversion does not take me long at all..

I'm partial to the metric system simply because it is what everyone else uses and because I will be working with it almost everyday for the rest of my life in a few years.

I actually think this is quite a diverse forum. Atleast in older members.

But yeah, some of the imperial stuff is useless at work.

Apologies, not to say that this forum is solely/mainly US-based users. But as far as my interaction with people from the US/nearby countries this is where my question would recieve greatest exposure to them.

I'm from the UK. Always found that dates like 05/22/2012 baffling... Why have it in an odd order?

As an American, I always preferred the metric system. It's honestly the old people who hate change who keep it the way it is.

As a construction student/ worker, I use imperial every day to it's extent(Which is significantly more than literally most Americans). I'm used to working with it, and converting/ adding/ subtracting fractions are really easy now, and actually fun. That being said, I do agree we need to switch to metric

Most countries use metric. Don't see what's being discussed here unless you guys are making a revolution in the US or something.
