    Default Reason for Lag?

    Hey guys,

I experience massive lag when running Simba/Runescape at times. I was wondering if a person who ACTUALLY knows a lot about computers can tell me if this problem comes from my internet service or my computer being slow.
I have seen many threads where they say they are going to get "fast" computers, but doesn't internet service have to do with speed more? I ask this because my lag is to the point where running more than one bot, is impossible.

    My laptop -
    Lenovo T400
    Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU t9400 @ 2.53GHz 2.53GHz
    Memory(RAM) : 4.00 GB
System Type : 64-bit operating system

    Graphics Details -
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series,
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Based on my laptop details can someone tell me if it is my computer that is slow or more likely the internet service?
How would you guys rate my computer? Horrible?

Also, I was told graphics can really effect the performance of Runescape, how are my graphics card?

    Thanks in advance

Try this and hopefully it helps because I was having the same Issue and it helped...

Thanks for the video though I'm pretty sure I get lag that most players don't get. Does anyone else have any other helpful information ? Maybe particularly about my laptop specs? or graphic card?

    Thank you.

Well, I know running on my Old Xeon system with similar specs that if I try to run more than two Simbas then CPU usage sits at 100%. When you begin to experience lag then you could try resetting your MODEM and ROUTER by turning it off or unplugging them, waiting ~30 seconds and then turning it back on again. This should be plenty long enough to reset your IP and hopefully get rid of your lag. Since you are using a laptop it may be the your wireless. If you have something that is large and metal/thick stone (like a fireplace or a filing cabinet) between your wireless and your laptop then you should try actually physically moving your laptop to a different location. Also, try to avoid being above or below your wireless router because that weakens the signal significantly.

Lag could also be cause by having automatic updates run on certain things (like Video card drivers, OS, AV, ect). Try turning these off or running them all at once to avoid random times where your connection could cut out.

If none of this works then go to your task manager click performance, click resource monitor, and watch this little device like a hawk. Network is going to be the important thing since that is what you are mostly looking at. Make sure you know your actual DL speed (Run a test at Speedtest.net) and then watch your network activity, if it is low and you are still lagging, check other computer in the house (wired computer take priority over wireless unless you have a Modem/router that allows QoS).

If lagg continues then you should ALWAYS run a speed test at speedtest.net and save your results, once you have 3-5 of them that are extremely crappy (will most likely be in the middle of the day at peak times) then call your ISP and complain about poor service and request to be put on another trunk or that during off hours your internet speed is boosted to compensate.

Edit: On a side note, it may be worth investing in a router/modem that provides QoS (Quality of Service) and setting it so that the Wireless has a higher priority than the wired computers or try a little program called NetLimiter3 on any wired computers in the house and cut them back to 1/2 speed. I use a combination of NetLimiter and QoS in my house and I typically don't experience lag, although I think my wireless router is about dead :/

try clearing your cache, just like it says in the video...Also play around with the slider. Take it all the way down and then bring it back up fast..and keep doing it until it gets a lil faster..

Another thing, if I remember correctly, running Safe-Mode uses only CPU and internet. Nothing should be calculated by the graphic card so it should only affect when you are playing RS using their client.
