    Default Computer Running Costs?

Well I'm thinking of beginning to auto 24/7. Right now I'm only doing around 12 hours per day. But I was wondering if the cost of running a pc 24/7 is high? How much electricity ( roughly) does a computer use in 24 hours? Of course my monitor will be off , and all other hardware apart from the actual computer.
Because if the electricity bill is too high, my mom will force me to pay it! .

Im wondering the same thing! Just, not for the same reasons as you.

If I set up a "Business" I'd want to pay my mum the stint of the electricity bill (Keep the conscious clean, karma /whatever). I'd also like to add, im UK.

A single computer without a montior takes very electricity a day. I googled it and its about every 3 hours it uses about 1 kilowatt hour. Thats about .24 cents a day at a rate of .03 cents per kilowatt hour(estimated, unknown if right)

About $7.44 per month in a 31 day month for 1 computer (this is an estimate so i do not know for sure)

Is this with the monitor on or off? Becuase it sounds like its with the monitor on, which means the monitor off would be much less.

I think it was with the monitor on, i think it would be maybe half it. I am not totally sure, if you really want to know, buy a electricity use recorder and it will record how much electricity you use in a certain amount of time you set. I forgot where i saw them but there only like $20

Also to save money, go for the computer parts that consume less energy, assuming you're gonna build your own
