    Default Can Anyone Help?

I am looking in to starting making scripts..

Can any advanced scripters help me and give me tips and things to help better myself with scripting?

    Thanks

You just gotta go at it man. Look at other scripts to see how to do something, look in the SRL manual, look at tuts. But most of all just start at it and ask questions as you go if you run into a problem.

    Welcome!

It is nice to see a First Time Poster posting here, and not in the Script Request section

Before you do much else, I would suggest learning everything you can about forms. I havn't learned how to do them, and I wish I would have when I first started scripting.

They're tough to do, but it would be a really good skill to learn.

Don't let having a hard time with them turn you off of scripting all together, though. Take a break every now and then and learn about something you like.

That goes with anything, if you just really don't like what you're doing, take a break.

I wish you luck with scripting!

    -Mike

Well i'd say learn forms after you get the hang of scripting pretty well. But it is always nice to see someone apply for SRL membership that has a form they made in their script.

There should be a link near the top of the main page.

Note that SRL is an include though, so you will have to download the library itself in order to use the functions. You can see all the standard functions by pressing F1 in SCAR.

What I do is in SCAR I go to tools > explore folder > includes folder > SRL > and then the folder SRL. And just look through those.

    I have it bookmarked :

    http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/Manual.php

The link they have on the forums redirects to .com/Manual.php instead of /forum/Manual.php - Someone should fix that?

Good luck leaning to script. Its amazingly fun!

I recomend using the tut.exe but i cant remember where it is, try and learn to use standards first that way you dont have to alter things later.

Good late mate remember any problems just make a topic and im sure everyone will help you

Read a few tutorials, then print out some scripts and read them when you get bored. Thats how i started.
