    Question Xbox.

Ok so My xbox got the RRoD (Red ring of death) and I finally persuaded my dad to give me his. My xbox was the first model to come out. My dad's xbox was working before I left his house. But, when I came back, and i plugged everything in, it also got the RRoD. Could it be my power supply? I don't know why this is happening. I just wanted to play some Mw2. lol

No, it's just a design flaw. Your Xbox is dead.

Now look at the bright side, you can upgrade to a real gaming machine AKA a computer.

If you used the same power block from the first generation xbox with your dad's xbox it could be. First generation xboxs powerblock had way too much current running through them that made the xbox heat up faster. Newer xboxs have this turned down (I don't know by how much). Is it 1, 2, 3, or 4 rrod? Depending on what it is, it can be fixed on your own with a little trip up to the hardware store (you also feel badass when you do fix it haha).

Make sure your video cable is plugged in all the way, sometimes it comes loose and looks like the RRoD when it's actually a false positive.

You can also try the towel trick, had to do that a few times with my old one.

Its top left, bottom left, and bottom right.

The thing that really stumps me is that i turned on my dads xbox to see if there is a disc in it at his house, and it was working, so it must be something stupid.

My new Xbox was acting weird recently too. I have a very fast internet connection at my apartment, and have never had a problem with Xbox Live. Recently, when playing MW3 or BF3, I would get disconnected in the middle of the game.

Turns out that I had to use a static IP for the console, then add it to the DMZ host for the router, AND make it wired. No problems since.

Yup, an easy fix. That's the 3 rrod btw. Since you've probably never opened a xbox case before total cost to fix it will be like $40 max + plus you learn something new.

Ylod is just exactly like RRod. Its all about overheating. Best bet is that you dont put your console on the carpet. And make sure dust do not gather near the fans. Lost a ps3 and had to call sony on it. Lost all my trophies. =(
