Default Runescape has done it again...

The 10 Year Veteran Cape was released today, and what better way to celebrate it than new buyables?! Solomon's General Store is basically another Sof Scam where you have to buy "Runecoins" to purchase certain items... What do you guys think? Will there be another W66 Falador riot?

Seems like runescape is taking the "free" MMORPG approach, where every in game item is buyable.. or you could actually play the game to acquire them!!! which usually makes no one want to play the game after a short while

Runescape is transitioning to micro transactions, at the moment they have not stepped outside acceptable bounds with r items of this update being purely cosmetic and the rare items from sof being untraceable and unreliable to 'buy'.
Many other mmos have a similar system of some cosmetic items being sold for Irl cash, I'm of is biggest fan but I have no mar issues with it.
But if Jagex goes any further with this...

To be honest, I like this solomon shop, it has some amazing stuff, it's all cosmetic and not too expensive in my opinion.

tbh, i don't understand why people bitch about it, it doesn't affect you in anyway, it doesn't give players an advantage over you, all it does is give jagex more money, to create a better game, and bring better updates

Yeah. Don't really understand why people are bitching about this.

If a player wants to distinguish himself among his peers he can purchase the items, which are purely cosmetic mind you, which add to his look.

Seriously, the items are just looks and in no way makes alters their ability to play the game.

EDIT: I assume the majority of whiners are those who can't afford or unable to obtain the bonus items themselves.

Cause it requires real money... RWT was strictly a issue in RS couple years back. Seems like Jagex has compromised.

Your point is? In some games for example company sanctioned RWT and disallowed player to player RWT is the norm (ex. maplestory.) The players keep on doing it though and the company still says it's not allowed and the game keeps going~

I still don't see how people with the money to buy something from a store that doesn't offer any particular bonuses, affects your game experience in anyway (Unless you're jealous of course.)

I would agree with you if Jagex was selling actual runescape items in stores that would break the economy, but sadly I have yet to see a Divine Spirit Shield in the store which I can buy for $10.

So I suggest we stop saying runescape is ruined just because Jagex wants money (like every other company in the world that isn't non-profit)

Jagex is eventually going to make runescape like all the other mmorpgs..You can buy this and look better than everyone else or buy this and hit harder than everyone! I'm just waiting for Jagex to allow the sell of items like santa hat and party hats of THEIR OWN site...Time to find a new mmo....

Lol, keep dreaming, Jagex will never sell hard to get in game items or "skills" directly. Use your head here. They're selling purely COSMETIC items with Solomans general store and I doubt that will change. They're just making money like every other company wants to, without ruining their game. The only way that it's possibly "ruining the game" is by people who complain about the sof or Solomon's general store everytime an updates released about them. Everybody just needs to calm down. They're making more money so they can make a better game and have more resources to combat bots (which is really the only reason you should be complaining about it on here).

There is one community of Runescape players that have not been catered to yet. The mentally challenged. These kids play the game to buy gilded armor so they can say: Oooo dat shinie, huhuhu. I believe that soon you be able to buy screen outlines (sort of like browser skins) that are shiny, move around, and contain storybook characters like big bird and barney. These will be available for about $10 canadian. I would probably invest in a big bird one myself so that, in the safety of my electric wheelchair, I will be entertained while dungeoneering.
    Just some honest input.
