    Default RS membership fee's raised

So call me crazy but one of my accounts I pay $5 a month on and then another I am paying 7.99 when did they raise the membership fee's?

Jagex makes so many incentives for those non-members to become members then they raise the price of it. Is it because they know the autoers / gold farmers will pay the price so its just easy way of making up for those who aren't members?

Crazy; I was reading on the forums that after the combat update they may raise members up 1$ to account for the update & new members coming over from f2p but again it was just a post from another player so who knows how much weight that holds.

the $5 fee is only if you've been a member before the fee change... sucks eh?

£5 is far too much in my opinion. Given that you can play WoW for under £9 a month, and have up to 52 characters, plus a much bigger world. Let alone the huge advantage in gameplay mechanics.

This just proves how Jagex have moved on from being that company who loved their players to a big business who are just interested in money. The whole ability to buy spins thing really gets to me.

Jagex has raised the price of membership a total of two times since I started playing in 2002. I honestly don't think it's that unreasonable.

On the other hand, their updated are getting worse and worse. With increased price of membership, they should at least be increasing the quality.

7.99 is a outrage... I refuse to renew my membership when paying 7.99 a month thats nearly double what I use to pay. If they are hurting for members upping the membership fee is just stupid.

This is true to an extent, the think is people (such as myself) so not play rs because it is cheap or even free. They play because rs is Different from other mmos, I personally almost always have two games running with one being rs. I have been an on-and-off player for 7 years now.
I do agree that upping the membership price is quite a dumb move from Jagex, it will cause many people with fairly inactive accounts to rethink their membership. No wonder Jagex is bringing out all these bonuses for staying subbed.

All in all; its a poor move on behalf of Jagex. But I'm just glad one of my accounts are 5$ a month because I dont intend to pay anything more then that.

Just sell gold for membership if you think $5/$8 is too much?

I suppose that's one huge advantage of RS is that it's very accessible. You don't need a super computer to run it, and you run through a browser, and there is the free aspect, as minimal as it is.

I'm not saying I'm happy about the increased rate. I merely mean from an economical stand point, of course they have reason to raise membership.

Runescape is over 10 years old. Over the course of those 10 years, almost every good and service that you buy IRL has increased in price. I'm not sure why people would expect this to be any different.

I'm unhappy about it because the quality of Jagex's service to us has decreased. If they were producing a high quality product, I would be all for an increase in membership rates.

It's outrageous how they raise the membership fees with the updates they are putting out. Ridiculous, to say the least.
