I'm running 1 script it ranges from 48-60% CPU.

    Also running Java 6 (6.0.330)

Anyone tell me if this it normal?

I went from 8gigs of ram and went to 4gigs thinking it'll solve my issue but didnt....I dont know what my issue is.

You're correct, it would do absolutely nothing unless the person is already maxing out their ram.

    @OP CPU model?

with java if you only have a small heap / ram then the gc will collect more times then if you had a bigger heap / ram. when gcing the cpu is used up more.

erm what script are you using? normally if you have a slow / dated processor then it might infact be that it just uses up that much of your CPU

about normal for your processor, I wouldn't worry about it

also, your graphics don't matter.. however in the future it will help.. Jagex knows they messed the game up and it barely touches the graphics @ goes almost fully to the cpu, they already said with their new html5 update they're going to fix that issue..

so I hope to see graphics cards getting used more

So why would I be maxing my computer out just running 1 script?

If everything looks normal, why would I be experiencing this type of issue?

well for one you could set the game to lowest cpu usage if you haven't
    already.

Now as far as one script running that much cpu power.. (hate to contradict some of the previous posts.) isn't normal considering i have a dell inspiron 570 myself

when you add ram to a pc it is supposed to give the computer more random memory to work with to devote to the processes.
    so....
    right click your task bar
    pull up task manager
    click on processes
find the process hogging your cpu
    right click
    priority
click Normal if its set to anything higher.
if its set to normal you could try lowering it but i dont recommend it.

another thing is to consider freeing up more virtual memory by ending processes that you know you dont need running.
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING
ending a system process will halt your pc and force it to shutdown.
or simply make your system unstable.

As I said, that's about normal for your cpu

maxing it with 1 script = the about normal part..

with that processor you could run 2 simbas probably, a bit of lag.. the script itself might take up a lot of resources too.. however you said around 50%, so that's doing good performance... with that cpu

also runescape uses that much memory, 330k? is about the lowest you'll see.
