    Default Hello SRL Community!

I have been posting and surfing the website for a little bit and have yet to post here!!

Anyways! My name is Steven, I am currently 19 and serving in the US Military. My job is a Communication/Navigation Tech on F18 Fighter Jets, currently at the command of VMFA-314 Black Knights. Look em up sometime, if you have seen the movie Independence Day with Will Smith, that was the squadron that flew all the jets around.

Im kind of sad I found this community after the first Bot Nuke, maybe if I would of found SRL a little bit earlier I would be a lot better at scripting!! But hey, im learning as I go.. and any help is appreciated.

I like it here, the community is great, everyone is nice, and very helpful. Im looking forward to get to know everyone, and to help out this community to the best of my ability.

If you would like to know more, or just chat, send me a pm/post here.

Thank you for reading, and please, leave some questions.

The Black Knights is just the name of the Squadron itself, but it is basically a command with a bunch of F-18 Fighter Jets.

Yes I am actually, was going to do online college while I was in. Wanted to get close to a Bachelors Degree by the time I get out. Was hoping for something in the computer field. Not exactly sure yet, though. Any ideas?

    Welcome to SRL!!

I myself attended online classes through the University of Phoenix. The most computer / software related course they offered was an Associate of arts in Information Technology (or something along those lines).

TBH, it was an absolute waste of time and money. I was always having to google the assignments because the instructors would leave little to no explanation as to what they expected and took days if not weeks to reply to emails, often times occurring after the assignment was already due. The first two classes were designed specifically to adjust people to an "online learning environment" (a forum), which should really come as second nature to people in this day and age anyways.

The curriculum was also at a much lower level than expected. the math course I had started there was easily comparable to middle/ high school. Who the heel goes to college and still hasn't learned how to find the area of shapes?!?

I was actually placed on academic probabtion because while submitting my assignment, it because corrupt somehow (It seemed to happen a lot to people so it must have been UoP's servers or something) and the instructor failed to notify me until almost 3 weeks later, then told me it was too late to re-submit the assignment...

Needless to say that was the last straw and I withdrew from the school.

Sorry for the bit of a rant there, but the moral of the story is to only take online classes when necessary and you have done adequate research on the instructing institute.

    Again, welcome to SRL.

Hey man, it is honestly not that bad. They give you a place to live, food on your plate, and money in your pocket. What else do you need? But, everything has its ups and its downs. Mainly downs in the Marines, which is why I am going to be getting out after my 5years are up.

Yeah, I was here before you but, I had a lot of stuff going on IRL which caused me to quit using a computer for a good while. Nice to meet you.

Ah man, thats a bummer. Thats the only thing that scares me about online colleges; you never know what kind of instructor you will have, or how the school in a whole will be. Im sure the experience is different for everyone, but I know, im not going to be using Phoenix.

    Nice to meet you, mate!
