Default why don't we restrict new users to non-clickable links

    Villavu,

I'm sick of spam bots. Can anyone raise a plausible reason why we allow users to post links(multiple links at that) on their first day?

Agreed, although couldnt they just post a link in non-hyperlink format?
I would also like to see a 50 postcount minimum to download scripts. We would have to make all scripts downloadable, not just code on the thread though.
Thx Euphemism and Vinyl for the awesome siggy and avatar!

15 posts is plenty, and I agree.
The scripts though I don't agree, more spam.

at least people can see the link if they put it in plain text. even if it is short url'd

While your sentiments about downloading my be shared by several others i really see that as bottle-necking growth. If i would have come here and needed to post 50 times b4 downloading you can be sure I would have moved on.
Now ofc that i know the community and have been here since i was 4 i'm staying till i piss off wizzup and he kicks me

Yeah, i understand where you're coming from with that idea though. sometimes it feels bad to get 50 downloads and 0 feedback just cause of leechers. But hey, we'll convert them

I rarely see any spambots since the new filter. Spambots are banned rather quickly by ssrl.

I agree with this. It has been raised many times, about trying to sort out spam bots. Something needs to be done about it and this is a great start.

Just a few measures put in place could help out.

Unless you installed a plugin in your browser called "filter" I'm not sure why you don't see all the spam bots :P

A small, simple and fully automated step like this would carry no negative side-affect that I can imagine.

I can't think of anyone that cares about content from a registered user that just joined 16 seconds ago... :P

This would just lead to spamming though. However I do agree on like a 30 post limit on post links, no one really needs to post links straight away, it's just the spammers.

How about we introduce Jr. Moderators which are select JR. Members + that are active most of the time.

There is an annoying anti bot text thing added to the register form. And more important, there are loads of bots caught with a super deluxe very advanced method, recognizing text posting on other forums. If it finds similar text on this one it will automatically soft delete the thread or post. This blocked almost all of the free cc and louis vuitton handbag crap.

It is not waterproof, but most of the bots are caught.

Hey Master, I`m from South Africa, my time zone is gmt +2, Sometimes very early in the morning, around 5 am to 10 am I do get some off these spam bots posts on the forum, not always though, most off the times, they are gone, but sometimes they do get through the cracks around that time frame, I think it has something to do with the time zones, as maybe there is not a moderator online during that time.

As to the post counts, I can understand why people want to make it more difficult to do somethings on the forum, but all that the post count requirements do, is to increase spamming as everyone wants to meet the requirements to do something.

Rather make it time constraint and activity based constraint before you can do certain things or access certain parts of the forum and maybe put in a requirement that you should release at least 1 basic script that can show that you are trying to learn and contribute to the community and that you are not just here to leach off other peoples work as is the case with pbot and epic.
