Default Animating in pivot? Need help? Click Here!

Hey, guys, I'm back with another tutorial. I've recently started with animating again, and I wanted to show you guys what I use, how I use it, where YOU can get it, and how YOU can use it. I'm sure it'll be fun for you guys. Just remember, it takes LOTS OF PRACTICE! I've been doing this for almost 3 years.

Anyway, enough of the small talk.

You're going to need to download Pivot, aren't you?

Don't worry, I'll hook you up.

    Here: http://pivot-stickfigure-animator.en.softonic.com/

    That'll set you up.

    What program: Pivot 2.5.5
What we're making in this part: Ball moving side to side
    What this exercises: Easing

Now, you're going to open Pivot.
Whatdaya see? Some weirdo stickguy, I bet!
Well, delete him. Use this button:

    See now?

    good.

Now, go to File>create figure type
    Should look like this:

    got that? Good.

Click it, if you haven't you already.

    You'll get this window:

    Good. Now, click this button:

    You'll get a circle.

    Now, File>add to animation:

You'll get prompted to add a name. Go ahead, give it a name!

Now, you'll have a circle on the main screen of Pivot.

    Move that to the left:

    See?

Good. Now, press the Next frame button.

Now, move it as close to ONE, 1! Pixel. This is how we're going to start it, because you want it to look real.

    Like this:

See that gray stuff? It's called shadowing. It makes it easier to animate, believe me.

Now, move it 3 pixels, or as close to that as you can.

Not going to show a picture, you get the idea.

keep getting bigger until about the middle.

You need to slow down sometime, don't you?

This is called easing. Here's a diagram of it,

    [easing]I-I--I---I--I--I-I[/easing]

So, you've got that, don't you?

    So.
Go to File>Save. You'll get this:

    Now, change This:

    To:

    And, press enter.

Now, you're going to get this:

    Change that to this:

    press OK.

    This button:

Now, you'll have your animations on your desktop. What you need to do now is go to:
    www.fileize.com and post them there.

    Here's how:

    You go the the website.

Then choose file. Select your file.

    accept terms, upload.

Now, you'll get this thing that says "View your upload" Click it.

    Now, right click your animation.

    View in new tab.

Take that like, put in img tags, and post here!

    Fun, right?

It should look something like this:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Part 2: Fast movements.

Hey, guys. I haven't really contributed to the forums in a while, so I thought I'd add to this tutorial. We're going to be working on fast movements, and how to ease them properly.

So, you're wanting to animate a punch, or something, huh? Well, I'm going to show you how to do something like that.

First, you're going to need something to move fast. We're going to use a ball again. So do the steps you did before, and make that ball.

    Got the ball?
    No?
    GET IT.

    kgood.

Now, put it on the left. Press "add frame". Then, you're going to move it as close to one pixel as you can. Then as close to 2 pixels as you can, then 5 pixels, then 10 pixels. What we're doing here is making it speed up at an exponential rate. This shows acceleration. Now, you're going to slow down ALOT slower. Because you're having to apply physics to the ball, that way it looks real.

Got that? Good. Now, make this, post it here. Then (if you want) make a punch. I'll see what you guys need to work on (if anything at all) so that I can make another update.

Here's what the ball should look like:

E: Finished! If you want, I'll add on to it, with walking, punching, kicking, jumping, y'know. The cool stuff.

Anyway, post your animations here! I want to see them!

Lol, this is the first one I made. He walks really weird, but I dont think its too bad for a first go. How do I make it go faster though? He's walking in slow motion!

Pretty good for your first one. I forgot to tell you how to speed it up, so it isn't gif raped

    Sec, I'll fix that.

Anyway, yours is a bit shaky, work on that. The foot placement is great. but the kick needs to have more force. You should work on easing, too. Overall, It was a great first animation.

    :I
Better then the first one Divus did, for testing. Divus, you remember that.

Thanks! He also kind of breaks his leg on the second step, so I'll try to fix that.
