lol they would strangle you and try to eat you before they would bite your thing off :P plus dumerils boas are extreamly docile. thats why they're pretty much the biggest thing i can legally keep in my city.

well someday i hope to start doing reptile shows. that way i am technically classified as a zoo and i can basiclly own anything i want. (the reptile laws would not apply to me) i've always wanted a pair of crocodile monitor but they are illegal where i live. crocodile monitors are the longest lizards in the world, they get massive. here is a quote from an artical i read once before. "Crocodile Monitor lizards have been documented to reach a length of 15 feet, with stories of 19 footers being told by tribesman deep in the heart of the Papua New Guinea jungles" that quote is coming from somebody who has a 10ft+ growing male you can find it here if you wanna read the entire thing, http://www.tigerhomes.org/animal/oth...le-monitor.cfm

generally dumerils are extreamly laid back, very chill snakes i have a friend who has a 100+ pound 8 foot female who loves to drape around my shoulders. its hard to hold them up for long periods but you never wanna let go lol. if she was an anaconda or a rock python(aha god help rock python owners) id be worried. i kept anacondas before and even when they would be friendly and you could pick em up as soon as you go to put them away they start biting the crap out of you. and as for rock pythons....this.. is a rock python image speaks for itself

aha i've heard of things like this happening. never had it happen myself but i threw a dimpled crested gecko egg in the garbage i though it was infertile. it hatched and i found a gecko in my garbage can

you can basiclly feed them anything. they're eating colosal rats every week but i can give em rabbits, chickens, chicks, generally most snakes can eat a meal as thick as the biggest part of they're body once they start going bigger they can die by basiclly ripping open with exeption of a few species (rocks, anaconda, carpet pythos.) so if its as thick as them or smaller they can eat it.

lol why boneless? you go to a farm buy a chicken either feed it to him alive or ask the farmer to kill it or do it yourself and throw it in the tank they love the bones. it gives them calcium.

How often do you have to feed them? Plus, I really love snakes! My parents never let me have one, now I just have to get my own house and get my own!

    Yea, so how often?

    That's a good looking snake.

You should take a really close up picture of the scales. That would be cool.

Drop rabbits in there, they can take care of the bones. (Live rabbits if you want a show, but its rather gruesome)
...Well not really, but it kinda just swallows em whole. You see them move a bit, then there is just a big lump that slowly moves down.

The closest I ever got to a snake was a garden one in my backyard which my mom promptly beat to death with a long broom. My family hates snakes. I don't really like them either but they still fascinate me a little.

when you move get your own. they require little care. hatchlings get fed once a week up until they're adults then i normally feed every 2 weeks.

lol i've given my blood python a live rabbit and it turned bloody that thing got rag dolled around his tank. i really try only to feed frozen thawen because there is less of a chance they can get biten. a bite left untreated can lead to an abscess. here is a vid of a bp getting an abscess removed,

I was just wondering, would it be practical to have a snake like yours, while in college? If im living in an apartment. Feeding and cleaning wise.

if you get a snake when its a hatchling you feed once every week. when the snake sheds you skip feeding or you can feed once he sheds and feed every 7 days from that date. and for cleaning you clean everytime they poop which is generally a few days after each feeding sometimes it will miss a poop tho or sometimes they will only poop every 2 weeks so you dont have to clean that week. basiclly all yoou do is scoop it out. if you keep your snakes on newspaper or papertowel you can just pull it all out then replace the paper towel. and once every 2 weeks to a month its good to take the snake out of the bin/tank and wash all its stuff. other then that all they need is a daily water change just to provide him/her fresh water.

its quiet easy and very inexpensive the worst part is buying the supplies but even then its not bad if you dont buy a bunch of stuff that you will never use,, get a rubbermaid bin cut a hole in it and he has a box to hide in. get a container and fill it with water and you got a water dish and they dont really need much else unless you get a tree snake then you need perches branches and plants and even still the perches and branches can be made outa tree branches and the plants are like 3.00 for a fake plant you might need 2-3. other then that most of my snakes cost me around 15.00 to feed a month and once i start breeding my own rats they wont cost me a dime. litterally i dont even use .06 an hr on hydro cuz my hydro rate is cheap

So you breed them then sell the baby snakes? That's pretty cool, I think I'd like to do that with tiny snakes .

lol the only advice i can give you is BE CAREFUL! there are alot of very bad breeders out there, alot sell things as what they are not. when your on the search for a good breeder if you want pm me and i can see what i can dig up for your city or country.

always do your research about the animal your buyin.

try find a reputable breeder in the city you live in whos focus is reptiles. alot of pet stores like petland and Petsmart (not sure if you have them where your from) will try and sell you a bunch of crap you dont need. for instance i went to buy a crested gecko and shes trying to tell me i need heat lamps and UV bulbs for them. crested geckos die in high heat they do quiet well around 75 degrees which unless your living in an iglu is average house temps and crested geckos are nocturnal but yet shes trying to sell me a 25$ bulb and 30$ lamp to give a crested gecko UV light when it sleeps all day. it does not need uv.

also one other thing you need to be careful about is once you buy 1 your gonna buy another i know sooo many people who say this is it for me that now have quiet the collection lol. the only reason i tell you this is because you can end up spending ALOT OF MONEY. my collection as little as it is compaired to alot of breeders is over 10k. there are alot of expencive reptiles out there, VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY EXPENCIVE!! like im not joking here are a few pics of expencive snakes. and i've seen alot higher, the first imported blue eyed lucustic which came from africa some guy paid over 100k. a lot of lizards like albino green iguanas (3k-4k) or purple tegu(5k) still run a crazy amount but not as high as snakes.

    pastel coral glow $27,500.00

dreamsicle ball python $30,000.00 for 2012 males $40,000.00 for 2011 males

    banana ball python $25,000.00

pretty much. i breed more then snakes though, i got a couple pairs of giant geckos, R.Leachianus. Crested geckos leo geckos gargoyle geckos a few types of python and a few boa. some bearded dragons a few chameleons and once my green iguana is a bit older ill breed him to my adult female. i used to have an american alligator and a specticaled caiman but the caiman died and i had to get rid of the american alligator cuz they're illegal where i live now. but once i move and actually become a legit breeder ill also be building my steel snake racks. i cannot atm as alot of the parts i need a business to get from the wholesalers but soon enough. basiclly just starting out, but a few more years and ill have a massive collection.
