    Default Violin or Cello

Hello the purpose of this thread is to see whether I should choose violin, cello, or both. Personally, I love both instruments and I have been playing both. I am Grade 5 ( ABRSM ) in both instruments but my mom thinks that I should just focus on one instrument as 2013 is my streaming year.

I would go with the cello if you are a slow changer. If you are a fast changer, like you like to/are good at switching b/w fast and slow notes at alarming paces, then do Violin.

If you are not passionate...Then do something that brings passion.
    Hope this helps!

My sister used to play the Violin and even if I wasnt the one taking the classes, I managed to learn a bit but since I havent practiced, I forgot. Violin sounds good.

    ^ Cello *

I play the cello, and Im pretty good at it.

It depends what you want to play.
The violin is one of the hardest instruments to master, and the pieces that you can play are insanely hard.
The cello is pretty easy to start learning, and fairly easy to master the basic skills. However, the pieces are more melodic and generally require less techinical proficiency.

I would say violin. I've been playing cello for around 10 years, and although I do not regret it, I would rather have learnt the violin. The pieces are more fun to play, are generally much more technically demanding.
    Again, just my opinion.

As an ex-violin player I am biased, but my reasoning would be portability awesome to hear of young people playing though

I agree, orchestral cello is the worst.
