Utilizing the tools of Villavu
By Xtrapsp
This is a quick guide which will explain some of the tools and uses of Villavu and some work arounds to various problems.
The Search tool:
I often find the search tool to be ineffective now due to the tags and keywords highlighted in other threads. SO! I will show you how to "slightly" work around this... well, use my method
Using a Search Engine the way it should be used!
Search Engines have a variety of tools and methods for searching the web which can narrow down results and provide more accurate results.
One of these tools is "Website:" or "Site:" This will allow us to narrow down which website we are searching!
Next up we search the website AND the topic at hand or keyword, for this example I will be using Object DTMs as I always struggle to find the thread on here.

This is what I have put into Google. This will search Villavu.com for anything with the word OBJDTM in it but more specifically the word Tutorial.
Normally if I search for ObjDTM in Villavu I am shown 100's of results. But in Google... only 5 results.
Through looking in those links I was able to navigate to the ObjDTM page through the first link (as it had the link in the thread) and in the last link which was infact a tutorial.
iSpy:
iSpy is a feature I love to use while I'm at work. There are moments where Villavu dies... and I don't want to have to keep clicking threads to see the updates.
iSpy allows you to keep that page open without having HUNDREDS of tabs open refreshing them to check if there is a reply. I keep iSpy open in a seperate window on my third monitor just to check when people post interesting topics etc. Go ahead and check it out
Social Groups and how to use them properly:
I don't feel Social Groups are used enough, Seriously haha. I feel that for creating projects they are perfect! You can control and manipulate how you wish!
Social Groups can be used to converse with multiple people and give yourself an image/brand.
Creating a Social Group is easy! Click on the "Community tab" above (See picture Below) and follow this by clicking "Social Groups".
From here you can join groups, create groups and search for groups.
I'm pretty sure you can find a group as you've managed to navigate through the vast internet to get here...
So now we shall explore creating Groups! To create a group scroll down to the footer.
and as you can see it says "Create a New Group"
Category
This defines which section it will come under.
The categories are quite simple, however if there is a category you feel that should be added try messaging Wizzup or another Administrator. (Give a VALID reason).
The group name should be valid and detailed, it should be in a word structure and not "ifig999d9gjrnsla"
The description should have details on the basis of the group, what its purpose is and why it has been created.
Group Type is the settings for permissions, who can view it? Who can post? Etc etc
VOILA! Your group has been created

IRC Chat:
I often find that using Xchat is annoying with the sites version of CHAT. To be honest, I don't want to have the page open for the chat soooo! Due to personal preference I will be showing you this with my IRC client Xchat2
Firstly, Download Xchat2.
Once installed open it up!
There are various options within this, lets look at the usernames. I decided to fill them ALL out with Xtrapsp and add a _ after each one
So after this, click connect in the bottom right.
This bit is the simple bit. In the chat, type in
After this a popup will appear. Type in #SRL OR #Simba
Job done! You're in!
Themes
Changing the theme couldn't be easier! Just scroll down to the bottom of the web page now and click the drop down box... Go on... do it now... go on... I SAID DO IT.
