Well link cable ftw, did ANYONE actually ever get the infra red link to work? I'd stand by that cable

Edit- not for the color, but what ever version they introduced it

I love those classic consoles. Its a pain to replace dead batteries inside cartridges to get saves working though.

I find those batteries hard to replace tbh, especially opening the cartridge i think you need a torx t5 screwdriver or something which I never seem to find in my toolbox!

I always hated it when my battery was low and when I tried to save my game, it turned off.

pain in the arse :| but whats worse the inner battery of the game cartridge itself which contains the the process of actually saving your game once that goes your game resets itself every time you boot

I used to simply use brute force to open the cartridges and put them back together with tape. Silly me..

Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal used it at the title screen for 'Mystery Gift' which basically gave you useless crap.

As for games that used it... Well...

Super Mario Bros DX (combine your high score table with a friend's)

    Pokemon TCG (thanks Nionel)
Robopon (technically doesn't - it has its own infrared sensor built into the cart)
Xena: Warrior Princess (supposedly, but I can't find more details online)
So basically it had no use at all and was dropped on the GBA.
