Wow, I'm looking forward to this! Didn't know until now, thanks! Too bad I have school tomorrow, though.

No thanks, anything maintained by Jagex staff is surely to include extra security and possible macro detection software in it. If you think about it, it's smart on their part; hide computer-analyzing programs inside a "3rd party" client to watch your computer. And if someone finds out and tries to blame Jagex then they could deny everything and say they've nothing to do with it, since it's not their client, even though it's created through a Jagex mod.

That one will never reach my computer, period.

    Current projects:
[ AeroGuardians (GotR minigame), Motherlode Miner, Blast furnace ]

That was the same discussion when SwiftKit transitioned to..well...SwiftKit, and when Jagex plead to players to send their specs to them. People were having the same concerns as you mate but fret not, it's the same as mine. Better be safe than sorry right?

It all depends on whether it will be open source.

Also i can't see anything exciting that could come out with it as it has to comply with RS rules, which include something like 'usage of 3rd party software to gain an unfair advantage'. Certainly it wouldn't help in macroing so it won't be of any use to us botters

No respect or interest in stuff from developers that would sell their community out for money

Allowing Jagex and affiliates access to your computer is not smart.

    Just an example: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59019

Swiftkit technically isn't a separate client.. its just windows visual basic application with your default browser loaded inside of it lol.

Well yea but as far as i know its not open source, so even if its just a kinda addon browser, who knows what else they have in there?

They could run anything seperate to the runescape part on the application and use it to do anything they wanted

It's not just that. First off, it's an installer. That just says a lot. Who guarantees you that in the installer it doesn't install a rogue tracker for whatever reason they desire?

It's not open source as people would use to create a new bot.

This has been talked about on their forums.

Not super interested, but is there anything macro-related to the client like a mouse recorder.

    Interesting how it still states:

© 2011-2012 Automaton Software Ltd. All rights reserved.
RSBuddy is a registered trademark of Automaton Software Ltd.
RuneScape is a registered trademark of Jagex Ltd
This used to be on the front page, but that now redirects to the thread linked by OP.

I, for one, won't be using it since I'm not taking the risk of Jagex having a form of bot detection hidden inside, especially if it will be closed-source.

I am implying that ignorant people on the runescape forums thought swiftkit was considered a 'different' client and could be detected by jagex when it's really just a webpage inside of a application that yes, can have virus's.

I am unsure if "swift switch" the program replaced by swiftkit was an actual different client because i recall you could click on a popular world to logon to and if it was full swift switch would keep trying to logon to it ( because back then you couldn't click on the world if it sais full and you would have to reload the world page again and again until it said like < 2000 people
