Yeah many people put off excersising for the first time because it hurts as your muscles are not shaped up for what you have just done, it's like anything you train your muscles/lungs to cope with what you are doing

I give up because I can't sit on my computer and do stuff

I should get pedals for my recliner

    http://www.brookstone.com/stamina-in...FYpFMgodzSoAwg

    whoever invented that

    edit:

just bought it, I'll let you guys know how it works
probably going to mount it to the bottom of my recliner so I can rock back and forth (I always rock cuz I'm a crazy person) while I pedal

Training your body IRL is much like training strength in RS.

You can consistently train every day for regular periods of time, and achieve results that way. This is like killing the guards outside Varrock and Falador, they can be killed relatively quickly, and you gain decent experience from them.
You might need some low level armour + food to efficiently train there.
IRL equivalent is casual training like swimming, running, rowing, cycling.

Another option is to go hard and train on big things for short amounts of time, and have breaks inbetween. This equates to something like Greater Demons.
It takes a lot of effort to kill, but the exp reward is pretty good. You also require high armour, and some decent food.
IRL equivalent of this is going to the gym, with the intent of gaining muscle mass and strength. As such, you have to get a gym membership and have to eat decent food to optimise results

Overall, these two methods are pretty good, and offer similiar results when your goal is to become healthier.

The third option is for the lazy person, who doesn't really want to bother with the difficult tasks. Perfect example is killing chickens. Sure you'll kill a lot of them, but the xp gains are very small. You dont require much armour at all, and food is not required.

    IRL equivalent is grats
The bicycle under the desk thing is great, but it wont really give you that much benefit when compared to the two methods above.

Ideally, a combination of the high intensity and consistent training is best suited for getting fit.

rocking while pedalling, interesting idea, it would be rather easy to forget the pedalling and just rock though. i guess doing something is better than nothing in any case. Don't be like me and do nothing XD

at mine there are just TV's everywhere and they usually allow you to change the channels as you please. but there aren't Tv's on every machine.

I honestly think simple walking is underrated. A short time after a meal each day go a walk, and if you find it boring take an some music with you.
The chin up bar is a good idea, but I think one in every day is a bit excessive though grats.

Tbh if you want to lose weight walking isn't what you want to do, yeah it keeps you slightly healthier but it wont burn the calories of what you just ate

I may not be at all good at coding, but this subject i am good at

I'm a level 3 qualified personal trainer and working as a self employed free lance pt/gym class instructor around the leeds, england area. I've got a client base of over one hundred paying members and counting. I do a spin class every tuesday, boxercise every wednesday and saturday/sunday alternating weekly I do a free outdoor fit program me and a friend made in the park, which probably has 30 people on it per day.

I probably write 8+ programs/diet plans per day. So I don't think adding another one on a particular day for you would make much difference.

If you're serious about getting fit/losing weight/building muscle, give me a pm and we'll sort something out for you completely free of course

It will. Especially uphill walking. It can be as intense for the individual as they make it. Everything is relative to the health and fitness of the individual.
Also, have you seen those walking races? Yeah, they're right fatties...

Pills, pills, pills. The fact of the matter is, nothing beats a balanced diet and regular exercise. Full stop.

    You're bmi at 43kg would be - 13.4 (Underweight = <18.5)

so seriously anyone who thinks 43kg is a healthy way of living needs to eat more, you must be chilly at night son

There is a lot of bulls**t out there on so called "health" websites. This is literally anorexia nervosa material.

Pull-up bars are great for working out at home; I have one on my door! It may be an idea to invest in a set of dumbbells so you can target areas other than your lats/biceps.

Actually Solar is right, walking is a great form of exercise.

Have you considered getting a standing desk? Even standing as opposed to sitting has a range of benefits beside expending more calories (such as improved glucose and triglyceride uptake from the blood). We all have custom made standing furniture at my work. It would also make it much easier to integrate an exercycle or treadmill into your setup (as your can slide them under your desk and your screen/keyboard will be at normal height).

Trust me I own a retail shop and I used to stand from 9-7 on the tills...my dad has done it for 25 years, he now suffers from sciatica and a slipped disc (although that has nothing to do with the sciatica) well the doctors says the slipped disc was made worse by standing up all day :|

To be honest, the best thing you could do is change your diet for now. I've been drinking only water, cut out sweet tea, for a week straight and I've lost 10 pounds just with that.
