    Default Joining the ROTC?

Its something Ive been wondering about recently.
Is it worth joining the ROTC? (Reserve Officers' Training Corps)

Has anyone here experienced this program/been a reserve officer?
Since I just finished my first freshman semester in college, its just something Ive been thinking about. It would help pay for college, and then theres the whole experience thing, spend time away from education, family, etc.

Also, would you join the ROTC?

Hey man.. I'll try to help as much as possible.

This is the way I see it, and correct me if im wrong.
It is basically like joining the military. You have to go through the process of joining the military, besides going to OCS. (Officer Canidate School) Which is a bootcamp for people who go the officer route. If im correct, they will pay for your schooling and you will get a DoD CAD card which dubs you as a reserves member of said ROTC military structure.

You get ROTC uniforms, a rank I do believe and have to participate in events as guided by your ROTC leaders.. Which is usually active duty military members who are becoming officers. It is like being in the military. My Ex-Girlfriend was in a Navy ROTC in UT. (university of texas) She had to act like a military member, do military things... everything military like.

The program prepares you to become an officer while going to college. She had a full-ride scholarship to UT to become a nuke tech for the navy. Upon joining the ROTC she had to go to MEPS and become a navy reserve.

Do it if you want to serve in the military as an officer.

Read this, and ask some more questions if need be. I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

I'm not too sure about the American forces but down here it's really fun (police force) (well only at night time) I actually only took my exams and training to become a special officer (so basically a fully trained police officer just doing it for free) I can arrest, I can use all powers that a normal police officer has but I do it for free (although they are making a lot of specials take on the full duties which I don't want to do because you have to patrol on your own and I wouldn't risk that I only joined because with your warrent card you get free travel within London which is boss xD Yeah like the dude said above it sounds like a military force? Well I never thought being a police officer would be fun but at nights its amazing, speeding down roads trying to catch criminals...searching people for drugs (section 23 yeaaah ) just really good fun, what I am trying to say is give it a go?

Lets say my college that I attend doesn't offer a ROTC program, so what do I do then?

I applied for the ROTC programs and the Academies ~3 years ago towards the end of high school. I'm currently on a military scholarship for medical school. Feel free to add me on Skype if you want to discuss the topic further in private.

Im not sure, but I do believe you would have to transfer? I'm sure Pyroryan would know more than me. I only know more about the military life, and on the job type of stuff.
