    Default bit defender free version

    http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/free.html
    just became free!
pretty much the top rated virus detection for many years in a row, it isn't "that" resource friendly it is using 130MB of ram, to me that's nothing.. but it will catch pretty much everything

I rock immunet (clamAV on) with bit defender now

dropped down to 45MB total now, so it was maybe doing a little scan

I'd say with clamAV and bit defender there are no viruses that will get anywhere close to your system, malwarebytes of course is always nice to scan every month or so

Thanks grats, might get this. I have Avast! right now though, it's pretty good imo.

yea avast is one of the better ones too, just surprised bitdefender even came out with a free version

it's down to 23MB now, so people saying it's a resource hog are crazy imo.. it's using nothing with all of its processes (2)

I use MSE, it's fast and seems perfect for daily use. I use malwarebytes once in a while, or when I suspect I might be infected (accidently got infected with a java drive by last week lol)

MSE didn't even pass the virus protection test, it isn't even considered a virus protection software anymore, lol

yes it is fast, and it was good

the only reason I use clamAV is because it has definitions from every virus protector in existence, and keeps up to date with every virus discovered.. so if all else fails, if the virus exists, immunet will detect it, for real time now I got the bitdefender

I just read about this. Seems it actually does suck now . Might have to investigate Bitdefender.

I was sad, because MSE never annoyed you, and always just did its own stuff.. =/

Every person knowing a bit about viruses and other malicious stuff knows that virus scanners will not protect your computer that much. It will only remove 'old' and popular viruses. The user of the computer is the biggest threat, no scanner is going to stop that.

Would having bitdefender, a keyscrambler, and malwarebytes be good enough protection for my computer?

haha np, it got more light weight now it runs at about 6MB on idle so it's pretty extremely light weight

it constantly scans (but slowly so you don't notice) I been watching it, much better than majority of the stuff I've tested

it also blocks websites extremely well, I've had it block quite a bit of sites I know are bad, and I haven't had it block any good ones.. yet

Rofl yea, immunet is good at that

bit defender & immunet don't play nicely, you'll haev to add immunet to bit defenders trust list. I just stopped using them on the same machine and just have my fire wall use clamAV
