    Default No More Anti-Leech?

Why? Why should new people be able to leech freely. I thought this site was about learning. Doesn't anti-leech promote that?

Anti-leech only creates mass frustration, spam, and leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths about villavu. We decided to get rid of it many years ago and with the sudden large influx of users and the return of people using anti-leech we reopened the discussion and talked about it at great length. From that discussion we have decided we do not want to be that type of community. Yes we are about learning rather than ravaging the RS economy, however, people should be encouraged to learn not forced. Forcing someone to learn something will only leave a bad impression of it. It also creates tension between the new users and the old users. There have been many posts and questions on the IRC "How do I fix this ant-leech" and it has gotten on peoples nerves and shorted their patience with new user. Then when a user has a legitimate question (not about anti-leech) but they are trying to learn, they are viciously attacked by multiple member. Is that the kind of community we want to be? To burn ourselves out so much that we attack or ignore the few that want to learn?

So in short: If you think your script will be abused, don't post it or post a "lite" version of it without banking or something like that.

As far as that goes, how are we defining anti-leech?

For the following situations, are they all, or are only some considered anti-leech:
1)Adding purposeful waits based on existing variables - functionality unchanged, just time delays.
    2)Simple compilation errors.
    3)Removing key methods.
3A)As an extension to that, leaving some sort of functionality in place: fishing. Yet including a broken form of banking. Script perfectly capable of running outside that broken banking.

I like seeing steps taken, such as what you just mentioned.
I enjoy games and what not, but overall I enjoy learning far more.

Yeah, finally I'm going to get my script to work...jk
OT: I think that we might look better if we have no anti-leech because it might reduce the spam and there will be Boone trying to fix it for $$ on other forums like pb or sythe.

IMO this is the best way to go about it.

It would be nice to have something like , a lite version for example, and to get another more advanced version with added features, the interested users would have to fill out a form or answer some questions (randomly about the script's logic or whatever ) - that's not an anti leech but another way to make them look over the code at least

Full support for this. This will not increase the amount of people leeching, it will rather tune down the amount of abusable scripts we have.

Would guess so... Yours is even better than an anti-leech, it has the cool stuff included, you just have to find it...
Would be even more fun if you removed any mention of banking etc. from the first post in the thread

So we can release scripts that run prefectly well, ie no anti leech stopping them working.

but they have an added surprise, ie singing Taylor swift randomly?

Anyone that looks over the script will see a clearly named "sing" procedure and easily find when it is called in the main loop so can remove it very very easily but it does not degrade the performance of the script otherwise in any way, is allowed?

I know for a fact that there were scripts that made an emote when you leveled up

I'd like if my scripts gets abused. Why not? I don't release scripts for 'learning' purposes, but simply because i want people touse them.

People learn to write your code by reading someone else's. And this is the most effective learning. Even in programming. And in all the scripting is much easier, so whatever manual you did not write it will be for beginners. The rest is a matter of practice.

Would it be acceptable to have a script that stops after 1 loop, unless they know how to make it run longer?

With all of these questions about what can and can't be done, I would like to see a clear set of guidelines that everyone can follow before releasing a script (in terms of anti-leech specifically).

I'm no scriptor but can they do things like make the script have super long wait times between hitting an ore for example or is that anti-leech as well?

I think that is how every one learns, or expands what they know at least.
