    Default Why no more anti-leech?

    Admins/Mods/Devs...

Why have you made a rule to no longer allow anti-leech? If I were a higher-up on this forum I would make it my duty day in and day out to keep useful users active, inactive leeches banned, and grow a strong, knowledgeable community. We all have to start somewhere and, of course, aren't expected to just pick it up and then magically know how to code.

I spent almost 5 hours teaching myself via the guides on this forum, a video tutorial, and a few other means... Just so I could get one script's anti-leech off and be able to bot. I found that it's truthfully not that difficult, it just takes time and patience.

I remember a website that some of you may be familiar with. WAY back in the day... Rs-r. this community would only accept you as a member if you understood how to code and contributed in some fashion. This prevented 10,000 people using the same script and kept their bot elite and undetectable since not many users had it.

Why are you going to allow your forum to have thousands of idiots register and just leech off of hard working people here? Even if they are just simple anti-leeches, common typos, etc... There are hundreds of people who have no idea what to do... They DON'T DESERVE TO USE THIS PROGRAM. PERIOD. They are ruining it for all of us.

Is the money you make from adsense really that huge? (Actually... Shit, do you even use that? I see no ads, haha)

Why trash the community with idiotic threads and replies to posts? I think that if a user posts about an anti-leech without showing proper effort they should be warned, then banned if it's a repeated offense. (This includes pm's to creator/members). (I can't find the reply I was looking for... But it was the user copying his error and he explained all the steps he tried and why he tried them, it was rather quite detailed, and eventually figured it out with a minor hint from another user)

Hold your program/product to a higher standard than open public nonsense. Make this a place to have intelligent conversations with knowledgeable people. Make this a place where you are forced to learn what YOU WANT TO KNOW. If you didn't want to know how to bot/script/cheat in a game... You wouldn't be here. Stop enabling and allowing people to leech with acceptance. Please?

(PS. Don't make any new rules about insane anti-leeches. I am still learning, haha)

*edit* Think about it... We are not the only public Runescape bot and there will be tens on the internet here shortly once people get their things in order. Don't make this another wasteful public community. Please.

With antileech: Lots of whiners spamming threads asking for how to fix antileech, with many abusable scipts available
Without antileech: Leechers silently leech off and go while those whow ant to learn can get the attention they need, with fewer abusable scripts around

Instead of limiting the potential for abuse at the user end, this limits it from the source.

"Anti-leech only creates mass frustration, spam, and leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths about villavu. We decided to get rid of it many years ago and with the sudden large influx of users and the return of people using anti-leech we reopened the discussion and talked about it at great length. From that discussion we have decided we do not want to be that type of community. Yes we are about learning rather than ravaging the RS economy, however, people should be encouraged to learn not forced. Forcing someone to learn something will only leave a bad impression of it. It also creates tension between the new users and the old users. There have been many posts and questions on the IRC "How do I fix this ant-leech" and it has gotten on peoples nerves and shorted their patience with new user. Then when a user has a legitimate question (not about anti-leech) but they are trying to learn, they are viciously attacked by multiple member. Is that the kind of community we want to be? To burn ourselves out so much that we attack or ignore the few that want to learn?

So in short: If you think your script will be abused, don't post it or post a "lite" version of it without banking or something like that."

For everyone else who didn't click the link. Fair enough, I apologize for the spam topic, I tried to search a bit for it but no luck. This can be closed, sorry.

Keep in mind there are sections restricted to Villavu ranks above "Registered User" which include additional facets you will not see, and are entirely unavailable to lower ranks. So if you want the best, you must contribute.
